  1. Still inaccessible, no response from xisto.I reckon I should conclude the account and its content have been removed. Oh well. Thanks for the help turbo and buffalo.I haven't deleted any special/system folders or done anything else strange at all. I am also very positive it wasn't an intrusion that gained information from my PC.I would advise Xisto to send a warning to all its members if this same incident shows up again, having the client make back-ups occasionally should decrease the damage done. Luckily I had a SQL back-up made a day prior to this occurrence, wish I could have retrieved some of the files but I'll manage.Edit: Update:Account is online again, all data except for SQL database has been deleted.
  2. That's like saying your biggest strive with FPS is that you don't like shooting. The whole point of a MMO is to have the RPG element on a server with different people. Sure, you may not like it - but if you catch my drift you'll see why that phrase was redundant. If you really need game ideas for 2D, visit flash sites. Games aplenty with stuff or little experiments to try out. Take your favorite movie, take your favorite book and depict some of your favorite scenes.
  3. Nice list, forgot a few of those already. I give you 1/10 troll points. You're not trying hard enough, sloppy presentation and missed a lot of open windows.
  4. Some choose Linux as their resort and hate Windows - and want nothing to do with it. Sure, a good choice. There is a jungle of distros which appeal to many different people. The topic however is one that matches the transition of Windows, or would make it easier for a user. Obvious picks are (k)Ubuntu. Its goal is trying to be as much user friendly as possible. There is also Linux Mint. https://linuxmint.com/ Pleasing to the eye too.
  5. Legions of FUD. As we all know, Microsoft is a company that makes money. This is reason enough for the company to be perceived EVUL by many. Sure, many others will refer to past bad practices of exploiting monopoly - it's the first line where it usually comes down to. The act of reviewing a product based on your own experience has become a lost art, and trolling Microsoft a national sport. But I digress. Same goes for the people saying you should wait for SP1 "because, undoubtedly the product should not be used before that." Well SP1 beta testing is about to start soon. Initial ram usage is higher, but the management better. Vista is better in maintenance and stability than XP, if you match minimum requirements it may be worth it to check it out. Know that you can install any version of windows vista for 30 days without activitation. Find someone with the disc and give it a shot if you aren't sure yet. Students at universities can usually get great deals on MS products. (âŹ40 for ultimate for example).
  6. Deleted none of those. I deleted a folder (not related to music or system folders, just my data) day before. Everything was fine afterwards, account became inaccessible morning after.Files are gone? Ack. Why has the account information changed though then? Now I'm able to "access" the URL (not that it displays anything, or cpanel allow me to open it), past few days it was server not found. I would think its server related.
  7. Seems you're right indeed, forum password does work.Don't have sufficient credits to continue the procedure though, so I'll just wait for a response from Xisto - Support.
  8. Hmm. Although that wouldn't explain why the data on my account is inaccessible. I tried changing the account, said username/pass is invalid. As for those other issues, stopped reading the first one when it was confirmed the poster was hacked by an admin. Thought it was irrelevant I'll just assume the downtime is a strange occurrence. Made a ticket (thanks for the information), I'll bide my time.
  9. Hey,my FTP and Xisto/account cpanel do not recognize my account/password combination anymore. My hosting space (onzeklas.astahost.com) has also become inaccessible. Is this server down, has my account been removed or compromised? Thanks in advance.
  10. Then open your wallet and pay for quality. Free MMOs are crap. If you're still reluctant, try trials of some good MMOs. Try Lord of the Rings: Online - it's an example of how MMO questing should be done, and not tireless grinding. Has a strong emphasis on exploring and lore as well. Warning: I suspect you are a minor (not difficult to tell), good MMOs have long dialog and quest frames. If reading is not for you, go back to FPS. You can easily get lost if you're not paying attention. Try the immense popular MMO World of Warcraft trial. Has a very good combat system, land lovely world design. I still recommend LOTR: O though as you can see the difference in free grind games and "the real thing", and especially fun with some friends to play the epic quest lines.
  11. Now now careful there, proceed with caution when your line of thought is nearing the Jack Thompson Danger Zone. It's not really exclusive to gaming. After a skiing vacation I always have the urge to ride my bicycle faster. The examples brought up in the article are rather odd cases. "Warp your sense of reality" is also somewhat exaggerated, to say the least - we're not talking about surreal landscape transformations. 12. Are you talking about porting an old database to a new one, with the same version of a bulletin board used on both databases? They're all piss easy and the process is precisely the same - dump, restore. Use phpMyAdmin rather than the features on the admin panel. They're even easy between different versions of one product; it only gets more challenging for different software (luckily enough converters exist). It shouldn't take too long to spot the differences in how the data is kept, run your script to change all the sql values and you're golden. Even if you can't get it right the first time, back-ups are your friend.
  13. Oh the problem isn't picking the password, many people who "claim they have been hacked" have been known to just write it down somewhere in sight or give it to the first moron that claims he's from the company where said person has an account. There is unfortunately no patch for human stupidity.
  14. Don't just 'buy' the latest card or a random that meets requirements. There are several ranges of Graphics card such as "Do your job well, best bang for your buck" "That card that does it 2% better and costs $150 more" "That ridiculously overpriced card that won't reach its maximum capabilities for you." Needless to say, stick to the first mentioned category. I recommend Tom's Hardware site http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/ They have a very good monthly review of graphics card, with their performances tested and the best pick for each card in each price category. Get your pick for which price you're willing to pay for it, and you can see what that card is capable of. Here is the September 07 review: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (In case you wait long with your purchase, consult the October review of course).
  15. Well realistic yes, although in essence it's still the same - you have a bar and if bar is empty you die. In this case you dodge lethal attacks while bar is still up. A neat addition.Haven't seen much of it lately, although combat was worrying. It looked repetitive, with bashing on only one mob at a time. Some vids showed some strange group gameplay where the Assassin was trapped between animation spikes from the different attacks.Besides that, searching for your target and running away from the cops looked great.
