Yes, there all iso's with the same data. Its not like the cdrom is writting in an linux file system.

Your just hitting a wrong spot here by saying Windows is so great by there GUI and Compatibility, Other OS's could have a chance if microsoft didnt sue everybody that try's to make there os compatible with the worlds software. And i seen some nicer GUI's but thats personal cant judge about that.(btw i miss linux in the voting list)

I cant see the point where he challenged the compatibility of Windows..But thats the only reason i use it. Thats because Windows has the monopoly on the software market and doesnt give a chance to other like Linux or Mac.But they did steal most of there idea's.. just take a frikkin look at there latest beta internet explorer and compare to firefox.Haha and the GUI? The GUI in windows 3.1 was even stolen from mac.

Often gimp is already in de distribution or can be downloaden from the distro's represetorie. There no linux distro to my knowledge that doesnt support Gimp. But to be sure, click on a distro (this link is ubuntu http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) Look at the list, it sais it has the latest gimp in there distro.

I'd suggest you check distrowatch.org all the linux distro's plus there ranks are there and all there info :DPersonaly i'd suggest Ubuntu or Knoppix but many will disagree.But thats because we all got a diffrent taste.Like some only like KDE well Ubuntu has Gnome. You could try Kubuntu but that just aint the same.

Love anarchy online would probaly be stuck on EVE online.. but there p2p is way to expensive so no eve for me EVE online is the only game i consider to pay for if it werent that expensive

Winamp style.. you could use alot of languages for this.. maibe easiest to learn i think.. (probaly a whole lot people disagree) java..You should snoop around sourceforge.net and look what other people did, what language they used and if it is what your looking for.. maibe you can ask if u can help develop a program there.. (Mostly they like to help beginners learn coding)

Windows Vista is funny.. i had the latest one and it said my laptop bios wasnt acpi compateble? riiight.. Now i cant test vista because it wont boot because of the acpi issue removed vista but now i'm stuck with the pretty vista bootloader asking me to continue setup (which isnt there anymore) or to boot to an earlier windows.. my original xp

It is just a way off getting the members in and let them build there precius sites.. then when everything is running like a charm they say they cant afford it anymore and ask everybody to pay up.. most will leave but they few that stay will make it worthwhile.

I have to agree with xboxrulz a litle bit.. but as far as i remember there are modules for ubuntu that will make it "suspend to disc" and the fact that ubuntu is one of the few that always worked perfectly on all the laptops i had and is rather easy to understand for people new to the linux envirement. (Also because it has a great communitie and almost every question is found on the forums). But yes.. i think your friend indeed doesnt know jack about computers.. linux cant infect your bios.. unless you really want it to (and then again it has nothing to do with the kernel)..

In my experience a wrong setting in your bios could make your windows see your processor as something else..I had it with an amd sempron 2800+ for somereason my bios had set the clockspeed way low and my xp thought it was just an AMD with 1400 mhz.. When i adjusted my clockspeed in the bios it reconized the processor.

Dont know how many pipelines it has, but seen cards with nicer clocks. (Okay overclocking is nice to )

Its nice to know this, but why would i put linux and windows on one partition? and.. this doesnt work with xp btw.. xp loves nfts.. and linux often hates it.

Hmm that depends, do you know any coding language? if not i'd suggest learning one.. Dont ask us what language because everyone preffers another, better to find out yourself if the code suits your needs.

I love elgoog better just put it as the starting page at your friends computer and hold for a laugh when they try a search.. Seen many people who freaked out because they thought there computer was "hacked" ofcourse these werent people they knew to much about computers tho.

Interesting, i never took the time of using ad's because i always heard bad comments about them. Might try it sometime.. maibe ill beable to afford a paid host then sometime or a nice domain name..
