  1. Dear Andrew,This camera is not for doing snapshots of documents, and is not intended to be conected to a computer. This camera is for being connected to a LCD projector, like projectors used to make that ugliest powerpoint business presentations in almost all companies. This is like a videocamera that can be connected to the projector for 3D objects presentation.I expect this information could be useful !

  2. Yep - right.. the lenses that support that kind of apperture are titled the ED series... for Nikon and almost for all other brands universally. They're so expensive coz they have to have a special arrangement of expensive lenses to capture objects utilizing such a large apperture and yet maintain as much clarity as possible ..

Yes, I think this lenses are ED. The nikon reference for this lens is AF-S NIKKOR 18-200 f/3.5-5.6G ED DX VR II

It is a pretty long name !

I missed to say that this lens are for reflex cameras.

Regarding the four stops question, the Nikon propaganda claims you can shoot four times more slow and the photo is not blurred. But I cannot understand this at all, how it can work if the subject is moving.

Or is only for steady shots at night? but if is this, is really useful to shoot at not moving things when is dark?

    Anybody have idea? :P

  3. About the new Nikon 18-200 VR lenses.Anybody has tested it?This glass seems to be a little slow, only f3.5 at 18mm and f4.5 at 200mm.Is the VR system really working?Nikon claims you can shoot four stops slower than normal lens.I don't understand how this system could perform in sports, or with low light but objects moving. These are also a DX lens. This means they are not full frame but APS sized. Is this the return of vignetting?Unfortunately there is no stock yet in the place where I live.

  4. Hehe - don't forget that Photography is like second nature to me. While nobody ever taught me, my dad's a big enthusiast and spends like a bunch on different kinds of camera equipment. He's a natural and doesn't bother with learning all these tricks - he just lets his instincts take control.
As for me - his enthusiasm got hold of me very early on - and I taught myself a whole lot starting from the basic of Black & White to Color.. and as much as I could about the various tricks - using light to your advantage etc.. Also in the process I taught myself B&W film and print development. Back home, I have my little but complete B&W lab with a nice enlarger, development tanks, all the developer/fixer chemical.. You can just walk in and start working on your prints :P

Teachers are good, but the way to learn is making lots of photos.
The second one is fantastic !

  5. about a week ago i bought a polaroid camera on ebay to experiment / play with. one problem is that i can't find where do put the batteries. im pretty sure they aren't in the film becasue this camera has a flash.
the model is the polariod impulse and it takes 600 film. does anyone own this camera or simillar? any ideas as to where the batteries go?

    thanks in advance.

The polaroid Impulse was powered by battery built in to film pack.
Just buy a film pack and test it !

    Cheers.

  6. Nikon, of course!I have Nikon's lower-end Digital Camera with 2.1 Mega Pixel!
It has 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. What more- it can shoot video clips too - though without sound. But thats OK.
Rest all Higher-end Nikon cameras have sound too.
So, dont invest your money in anything else.

I'm a Nikon user for a lot of years, all of my SLR equipment is Nikon, but in my opinion Canon is better for compact cameras, the lens are more clear and the AF system performs very well at low light conditions.
I think Nikon has little interest in this low end market and their compact cameras are not so good as it's brand sounds.

But in the SLR market, my vote is for Nikon.
D70s is a very good camera, and D200 is impressive and outperforms other more expensive "pro" cameras.

Canon Digital Rebel is also a good alternative for SRL, this is a very good camera to keep in mind.

If you like compacts, Canon IXUS series have a very nice lens and a really pocket size (and price).

The trick is not to affiliate to a single brand, but to look at the best of each one.

You can get a lot of camera information and reviews at dpreview.com
they have also image samples at full resolution and comparisons between brands.
