Google takes into consideration a lot of things to rank your page. Quoting from the original Google paper, PageRank is defined like this: We assume page A has pages T1...Tn which point to it (i.e., are citations). The parameter d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1. We usually set d to 0.85. There are more details about d in the next section. Also C(A) is defined as the number of links going out of page A. The PageRank of a page A is given as follows: PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) + ... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn)) Note that the PageRanks form a probability distribution over web pages, so the sum of all web pages' PageRanks will be one. PageRank or PR(A) can be calculated using a simple iterative algorithm, and corresponds to the principal eigenvector of the normalized link matrix of the web. but that’s not too helpful so let’s break it down into sections. PR(Tn) - Each page has a notion of its own self-importance. That’s “PR(T1)” for the first page in the web all the way up to “PR(Tn)” for the last page C(Tn) - Each page spreads its vote out evenly amongst all of it’s outgoing links. The count, or number, of outgoing links for page 1 is “C(T1)”, “C(Tn)” for page n, and so on for all pages. PR(Tn)/C(Tn) - so if our page (page A) has a backlink from page “n” the share of the vote page A will get is “PR(Tn)/C(Tn)” d(... - All these fractions of votes are added together but, to stop the other pages having too much influence, this total vote is “damped down” by multiplying it by 0.85 (the factor “d”) (1 - d) - The (1 – d) bit at the beginning is a bit of probability math magic so the “sum of all web pages' PageRanks will be one”: it adds in the bit lost by the d(.... It also means that if a page has no links to it (no backlinks) even then it will still get a small PR of 0.15 (i.e. 1 – 0.85). (Aside: the Google paper says “the sum of all pages” but they mean the “the normalised sum” – otherwise known as “the average” to you and me. Finally PageRank is, in fact, very simple (apart from one scary looking formula). But when a simple calculation is applied hundreds (or billions) of times over the results can seem complicated. PageRank is also only part of the story about what results get displayed high up in a Google listing. For example there’s some evidence to suggest that Google is paying a lot of attention these days to the text in a link’s anchor when deciding the relevance of a target page – perhaps more so than the page’s PR… PageRank is still part of the listings story though, so it’s worth your while as a good designer to make sure you understand it correctly. i am soo proud that i use Ubuntu,,, i wish the speculations were true instead of personal use, or they should make another OS for the public, for some reason i trust google more than MS Notice from miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG: Since you're new here, you'll get off with a verbal warning. Read the following. Just be a little careful in future so that you don't unnecessarily loose credits. You lost credits worth 5 days because you didn't enclose your copied material within QUOTES block. But the point in your favour is that you mentioned the source site. [tab][/tab]At Xisto Forums, if you make posts that contain material directly copied from other sites, you're supposed to do the following: Make sure the entire copied part is put between QUOTE tags Make sure that at the end of the quoted block, the originating web-page is mentioned in such a manner that a single click will lead to the originating article Include the original author's name is applicable. Failure to do so it considered Plagiarism - which, on our forums, is synonymous with SPAMMING. For every such SPAM you receive a warning. 5 warnings lead to a permanent ban. Also, when such posts are found, all the credits you gained for it are entirely deducted. Moreover, even if you follow the above-mentioned rules, and yet, your whole post consists of simply a huge QUOTE-d block with source citation, but no authentic material on your part, it is still considered as SPAM and will be dealt with in the same manner.

There were a couple of Virus warnings released by Major Anti Virus manufacturers regarding the outbreak of Two (or are they the same??) worms. One is the Black Worm and other is the 'Kama Sutra' virus....... Notice from miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG: Once again, you failed to enclose the copied material within QUOTE tags and failed to cite the sources too - for which you lost credits worth 9 days. READ the rules below, before you post any further. Hi all....I got a chance to try hotmail beta. I would like to share my experience of it .....It was very nice interface (MS is the best in providing best user interface's)But it had a lot of problems...It is another bad example implementation of AJAX technology... It works well only in IE 6 + browser, in all other browsers it worked with the bare minimum features... I dont like to use IE so this was the most disadvantage i had using the Hotmail beta.It gives error many times for unknown reasons..It had 2 big banners that were annoing (previous hotmail also has it, But i got used to that)It dod not show the total memory used by my mail box.....so i could not be sure of the 2GB they promised...Finally I got wexed with it and cancelled my beta mailbox and returned to the old hotmail....Now iam happy with the old strong and consistent version....Please share your experiences also....I dont say my review is the best but please post ur comments......so that i can know where i was wrong...

Thanks to Steven Bink for this news update on Office 12. Well I saw Office 12 demo's at IT Forum where the apps were named Office 2007, also as mentioned earlier on Bink.nu, the name change of all office apps now have the name Office in them. So "Microsoft Office Word" and not "Microsoft Word" Now with Office Inline Beta the name Office 2007 appears again, so we can expect to launch as Office 2007. I also saw Exchange 12 as Exchange 2007, this might change to Exchange 2008 cause it will be released in Q1 2007. On the other hand marketing would like to see the names in sync. Nice detail is that the binaries for Exchange 12 are 8.0 while Exchange 2003 are 6.5. 7.0 had codename Kodiak and was cancelled. Source: Bink.nu
