Scroll down to the extension you want to change 4. Click on the Change button 5. Select the program you want to associate with that extension 6. Click on the OK buttonIf the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is set as the default for many of your graphic file types, you can remove it so other graphics programs can be used. 1. Run Regedit 2. 2. To rename the start button, you will need a hex editor. My preference is UltraEdit 1. Copy the \windows\explore.exe file to a new name (e.g. explorer_1.exe) 2. With the hex editor, open that file and go to offset 412b6 3. You will see the word start with blanks between each letter 4. Edit it be any 5 characters or less 5. Save the file 6. Boot to DOS 7. Copy the existing c:\windows\explorer.exe to explorer.org 8. Copy explorer_1.exe to explorer.exe 9. You will also need to replace the explorer.exe in the c:\windows\system32\dllcache file as well with the new one.Note: If the partition is NTFS and you can't access the files from DOS: 1. Start Regedit 2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon. 3. Change the value of Shell from Explorer.exe to explorer_1.exe
  3. Windows XP cmd tip (DOS isn’t dead... it just smells funny) Some command-line folder creation examples:To create multiple folders at once, add them directly to the "md" command:C:\> md this is a testTo create a folder several folders deep, use:C:\> md this\is\a\testCreating a folder with a long name requires the double-quote at the beginning:C:\> md "this is a testBonus tip: Windows XP supports the forward slash "/" as a folder divider. Unix/Linux users: don't let the DOS environment get you down. Use a Unix-style CD command to change your present working directory:C:\> cd Windows/system32/drivers/etc

  5. see also:Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZSFor those that don't want the bells and whistles of the higher end Platinum series Audigy 2 ZS cards, the standard Audigy 2 ZS features the same software and hardware support as the larger siblings without the internal or external expansion boxes and the remote control. This is great for those just looking for a card to do audio playback for games and movies. The Gamer version of the Audigy 2 ZS also includes five full PC video games that use the Creative techonology.Turtle Beach CatalinaTurtle beach is one of the few competitors left to Creative from the early days of the PC sound card market. Their latest Catalina audio card uses the VIA Envy processor line to provide strong audio performance but not quite up to the level of some of the other newer models. The card still performs well for standard audio playback of music, movies and even video games. It is very much a no frills audio card for those who want a good card at a low price.
  6. Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite ProCreatives latest line of audio cards has a lot of improvements to it. The improved support for various sample rates, simulated surround sound for headphones and 24-bit Crystalizer are just a few. The Elite Pro comes with a very comprehensive external I/O unit for connecting a wide range of audio devices. In addition to this, the Elite Pro uses improved Digital-to-Analog converters for improved signal to noise ratios.

  11. The arcade mode is where you'll earn your gold, and it's sort of an endless arcade-style battle against the game's artificial intelligence. Much like Virtua Fighter 4 did before it, Tekken 5 pits you against AI players of different ranks that have actual ring names, as if they were based on actual players.

  18. I suggested the 6600 GT the 'GT' makes a lot of difference. The GT is cheaper than the 6800 and is in some ways better. In others, obviously not.The 6600gt has a core speed of 500mhz and a memory speed of 1000 whilst the 6800 has a core of 325 and a memory of 700. The memory speed is much more significant as this is what determines noticable 'true' fps increase. The pixel pipelines of the 6600gt is 8 whereas the 6800 is 12. The 256bit architeture of the 6800 which the 6600gt doesn't have is argued a lot to whether or not its an advantage. Depends if the extra money is what you want to save up. Likewise with the 6800GT. Again performance improves.Other aspects I havn't mentioned include the pixel fill rate and memory bandwith. These are very important. When buying a card, consider that 256mb doesn't always mean better. Usually the core and clock speeds are lowered as opposed to a 128mb card as someone has previously mentioned. If your playing things like half life 2, then these cards will EASILY handle pixel shading etc.If your one for overclocking, then definately save the money and get a 6600gt rather than the 6800 if its significantly cheaper. The 6600gt overclocks very very well and with some games, will out perform the 6800. Depends how much antialising you use.If your familiar with 3dmark software with the 03 version, the 6600gt will score about 8000 at 1024x768 screen resolution. The 6800 about 9500.Again like I said its up to you if saving up is something your willing to do.All these somewhat noticably higher spec of one card may seem a lot, but its actually whats noticable. Games can only have a certain amount of realism and its only when you've got the best quality that benchmarking obsessives pay £200 more for a graphics card that has no noticeable gameplay difference. As games become more advanced then graphics card will be showing more potential. Take for example NVIDIA take on the SLI technology. This will be effective only if you have a bigger screen in my opinion. 2 graphics cards, but if you look at ps3 graphics, they're just like pc graphics.Soon enough pc gaming will be phased out and dedicated consoles will take over gaming completely. How about talk about to your mate, the latest graphics card you got for your playstation four!!One last thing. Doom 3, the supposed benchmark game of them all. The radeon x800, costing a bomb. The 6600gt has pretty much the same performance as the x800 when playing the game.Hope this has been an insite to grahics cards as a whole. The longest thread I've ever done.O ye, and make sure your card is a pciexpress!
