  1. Or they could just take out the torrent search sites, if we can't find any torrents how do we download things with these clients. There needs to be more search sites just in case.
  2. BitTorrent is one of the best new protocols out today but I have to use Azureus and I kave to say it kicks A55, I tried BitComet and it took up too much cpu time and memory even tho it was useful. Azureus is the only one so far that will run on linux I think, it's written in Java and needs the JRE to run, but Sun makes a JRE for Linux so I just installed that.By the way I just installed MandrakeLinux 10.1 Official last night and I have to say it's better than windows, I'm posting off of linux now.But what I think is happening is they 8.5 mil is because a front for the RIAA is going to try and steer them towards the legal road by offering them more money to develop into a legal protocol that they can use to make prepaid P2P.
  3. Tthanks for the update jip, im gonna have to check out Bit Comet and see if it's any good, do you or anybody else know if the RIAA is sitting on that network too?
  4. Normally when you put your computer into sleep mode or hibernate mode it powers down the CPU, and you need your CPU to process incoming data while you are downloading, so while what everybody else was saying here about setting your computer to stay awake on its own is true, we should also mention that you should not manually put it into sleep or hibernate mode while you are downloading anything because all open TCP connections will be timed out.
  5. I think I am going to build a hand crank thing for my laptop only I am going to make it a big heavy duty one since I have a 2.2GHz with a huge screen and CD burner. That would take a lot of power but I like the idea of being able to crank this box up and plug it in when your battery dies. This way if you are on a road trip and you are using your laptop to let your kids watch movies, you dont have to pull over and plug it in every 5 hours, just give one of the kids a crank and say "you gonna have to work for your entertainment." Another bonus to this is it wears your kids out so they sleep more during the trip and you dont hear "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" LOL
  6. If you go out wardriving then I'm sure you know of plenty of other places you can get free web access from, some may even be faster than your school, why bother getting yourself in trouble, besides you don't want to be tagged as a hacker do you?
  7. OK sorry, for some reason the thumbnails didnt show up in the post, it worked fine in the preview before I posted, but don't worry the absent image boxes still link to real images that do load, and if you want to see them all in thumbnail order you can check out My Blog and they are right there. Once again I'm sorry about that.
  8. Here are some COLOR arial shots of Area 51 for all you SciFi fans to gawk at. I have no idea what area 51 REALLY is but I dont think they left those cargo planes out by accident, I think they want to take our mind away from what is really going on there. Why else would they have two fighter jets on base ready to scramble. Click the images for a larger view.
  9. lol@the jokeSo far eMule is the best P2P software that I found for downloading big files, given that it may be slow to get started, you never get a corrupt file and I love the feature that lets me manage my up/downloads from my cell phone. BitTorrent may have fast speeds, but so does NNTP and you can find almost anything in newsgroups these days, and what BitTorrent lacks is the interface and functionality that eMule has, mainly because eMule is open source.--------------------Sm0k3y Mcl3uD
  10. Tonight at 6:30pm I along with a bunch of other people will be rallying at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Georgia Ave. in Washington DC to support our troops and their mission in Iraq. The rally will be going on until 9:00pm or 10:00pm and I will have pictures posted by 11:00pm on My Blog along with an accounting of the events. -------------------- Sm0k3y Mcl3uD
  11. In DF1 in some of the concrete buildings if you stand on the third step down from the top on the highest stairway in the building, select your knife and jump up and forward, you will jump through the ceiling and end up on the roof. Excellent sniping position.--------------------Sm0k3y Mcl3uD
  12. I can't belive good 'ol MS hasn't said anything about it yet, I mean their system is supposed to come out before thanksgiving isnt it? Leave it to MS to keep it secret and suprise everybody. -------------------- Sm0k3y Mcl3uD
  13. It's not even that hard to fake a fingerprint on some of todays scanners, I know of one scanner that all you have to do is breathe on it to make the last person's fingerprint show up on the glass and the computer will see it, instant access. They havent gotten to the computer speed bridge yet, they are still trying to cross the anti-spoofing bridge, lol. -------------------- Sm0k3y Mcl3uD
  14. You should probably pick up a copy of norton anti-virus, it catches code in webpages that does things to your computer you dont want it to do. I have been using it since 2002 and I havent cought a virus since. Hope this helps. -------------------- Sm0k3y Mcl3uD
  15. WinMX went down on Wed, Sept 21st 2005 at 8:00am and will not be coming back, the RIAA has scared them into retreat from the P2P race. I didn't use WinMX anymore since last year but it is still sad to see them go, I used WinMX right after KaZaA kicked the P2P bucket. But now I hear tell about eDonkey being next and I hope that will never happen, because doesnt eMule run off of the eDonkey network? The president of eDonkey announces to the supreme court last week that he would be "throwing in his towel."I am thinking about trying out MUTE if eDonkey goes down because from what I hear it is supposed to be an untraceable network which the RIAA would need access to all the computers on the network to trace downloads. There are some bugs in it though, like when a lot of people are connected, it's very laggy.Anybody got any ideas on what to do next when the RIAA shuts down all the networks we know of?--------------------Sm0k3y Mcl3uD
