TJ213 replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Software
wow, this looks great, google interface with the Voice Over Internet Protocal of skype or Gizmo Project and Instant messaging like America Online Instant Messaging, or MSN.Why isn't this more popular, I mean, everyone uses google, and I have never even heard of this before. Google needs to advertise this stuff better. -
Battlefield 1942 Does anyone here still play this?
TJ213 replied to Mossaic91's topic in Computer Gaming
I still play this game when I don't feel like waiting through the normal load screens in Battlefield Two, I kinda like the music, but it gets really repetitive really quickly. I haven't tried any mods for it, but this post has me interested. Maybe I'll try out some mods. They always give new life to a game. -
My windows XP must have the world's longest startup, it even tries to install adobe photo album every time it starts. I even went to the run, typed msconfig, and couldn't find it. I also checked the start folder, and that is empty. The other thing is that my computer won't open up my DVD burner as a writable folder, so I have to use the Record Now software.I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

Windows Software On Linux What do you use?
TJ213 replied to rantsh's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I would recommend running a dual boot system. Unfourtonatly, that probally wasn't too helpful. The thing is that with games, you probally won't get good preformance with an emulator. (although I did see somebody who had a linux box emulating windows, emulating apple, it lagged like crazy, but it was awsome) -
hmm, maybe windows vista will have something better. To transition to 3d will probally require a new way to display and contol your computer's input and output.

I have a Nvidia card on my desktop that allows me to run 2 montors on one card, which is great in windows, but when I go to linux, I can't figure out how to set it up that way (so it is extended, not cloned) I am running the last free distribution of Red Hat Linux. (which wouldn't even work with my video card at first, wierd)

Ok, many people in high school or college have graphing calculators. Many people put games on these calculators, and I am asking you to tell us what your favorite Role Playing Games are for calculators. And if you have found a Multi Player Role Playing Game, please post it, because I have played Multi Player games on calculators, and Role Playing Games on calculators, so someone must of combined the two.The List:Calc Rogue: This game is a 2-D grayscale Role Playing Game for the TI-89, although the graphics aren't the best, it is a great game, and is a great way to pass the time in those study halls where the teacher won't let you talk.

Hl2 Halo2 Doom3? which one do you think is the best?
TJ213 replied to Killer008r's topic in Computer Gaming
Half Life 2: Although Half Life 2 has a good Single Player game, its multiplayer is almost non existant, although it usually comes with the inclusion of Counterstrike Source. This game is great for multiplayer, and even for some single player since it has bots. Half Life 2 is a "thinking man's First Person Shooter" It is definitly not just point and shoot.Doom3: I really didn't like this game too much, I'm just not a dark places with zombies person (unless I'm playing this game at 3 in the morning, not that is freaky) I found that Doom III seems to be very straight forward (even though I constantly got lost) I just don't think that stratigically it is very demanding, and I like to be able to see my enemies. Plus it kinda has a clastraphobic feel, since everytime you are outside you need air, and even the indoor areas are pretty small.Unreal Tournament 2004: I just had to add this, it is such a great game. The 2004 version even has some SP value, and Epic Games is such a great company for providing all these great tools to easily mod Unreal Tounament 2004, when you are tired of it, you just find a mod, and you have an entirely new game for free, f-r-e-e free.Halo2: Although I personally would have liked to stay the Master Cheif for the entire game, the Single Player isn't too bad. Especially after playing on Xbox Live forever, which is really where this game stands out, the Multi Player. Xbox Live is simply one of the best online services out there, because for just five dollars a month, you get online multiplayer for all xbox live games. The matchmaking is also a great system, and I love the 1.1 patch, and now there are 9 new maps, and new playlists, this game justs keeps getting better. So in summary, if you are looking for a great Single Player game, go Half Life 2, if you are looking for great Multiplayer go Unreal Tournament 2004, or Halo2. Just so you know, I voted for Halo2. -
I use Partition Magic. If you look around, you can get it for about $20. It is great software, and it makes formatting easy, and also partitioning very easy. It is great if you are doing something like installing linux. (In this case, I had windows, shrunk the windows partition using partition magic, and then I put linux in the free space, installed linux, and had a dual boot system.)I have also heard that if you repartition your hard drive too many times it is bad for the HDD, but I'm not sure if that is true, does anyone know if this is true or just a rumor.?

Let's Think What Will Nfs Ug3 Will Be ! need for speed under ground 3
TJ213 replied to arab200's topic in Computer Gaming
The next need for speed underground was actually need for speed underground: Rivals for PSP and DS.The next console one will probally come out for the next gen consoles, so the graphics will be much better, and the physics engines will probally be improved, the one thing you will probally never see is damage. Using real cars does that. The auto manufacturers don't want people to see their cars smashed up, so in games like Grand Turismo, and Need For Speed, Underground, you can't see damage. (other than cracked windshields) That is why burnout3 made up all of its vehicles. The next need for speed will probally try to create a combination of Need For Speed 1 and Need For Speed 2 as far as navigation goes. Although explore mode is a good concept, and great at first, one can get tired of it very quickly. I think the next one should have a combination of explore mode, and you can say, "use a trailer", and for a small fee just jump to the next race. -
and that is the type of mod I'm not talking about, I'm talking about mods like the New Map Pack, Star Wars, and more where there are entirely new Multi Player Levels. In halo2 there are new pit of death and arena mods, prophet's chair, Fuel Rod Gun, Phantom, Pelica, Play as a hunter, Scriped longswords and serephs, and so much more.

well, it all depends on what type of user you are. Most people who are reading this would have no problem using other music players like the iriver, or the zen, the main advantage the IPOD has over the other players is that it looks awsome, is easy to use, is reliable, and has an amazing UI. (and the click weel is sooo much better than that scroll bar thing when you left the volume deafeningly high)I have an 30gig Generation 4 IPOD Photo, and an IPOD shuffle, (the photo was a gift.) If you are currently looking for a music player, I would reccommened the new $200 IPOD NANO. It is your decision though, just go to a local circuit city or something and try them all out first though. (then go buy it online, where you get free shipping and special deals, I got free engraving)If you are using it for use in a car, you might want to buy the griffin FM adapter, you get some static, but it isn't that bad.You have to admit that the new IPod Nano is awsome though.

I find most of my parts at newegg.com, but this sounds like something that you would need to go to ebay for. I would not reccommened going to dell though. My last laptop was an Inspiron 8200, and when the screen broke (I droped a desktop on it, end of story) I called dell, they wanted $1,500 to replace the screen on a laptop I paid $1,600 for! The dell representative actually reccommended just buying a new laptop. I didn't have that type of cash, so I took it to a local store, they found the LCD on ebay, and I got it fixed, and it cost $384 overall.Okay, so basically the summary of my story, if your laptop breaks, look for a local group that repairs laptops, and unless it is covered by your warranty, skip dell.Oh, and the speakers in that think are junk anyways, who in their right mind decided to build that thing with the speakers sticking out of the sides?

Xp Power Toys Just for people who havent got there yet
TJ213 replied to organicbmx's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Does the Alt-Tab replacement tend to slow down your computer? I constantly have about 30-40 windows open, and my computer slows down, but since about 10 of these windows are IE, the alt tab isn't the best. Since I only have 512MB of RAM (+256MB video RAM) my computer is much better handling graphics than multitasking, but I still don't want to install anything that will slow down my computer. (No AOL for me)And what about the multi desktop, it sounds really useful, and would let me keep my workspaces seperated, but at the same time, running 4 workspaces sounds like it would slow your computer down, especially if you enter a high power app like photoshop, and you have a ton of other programs in other desktops.RAM (and HDD space) has always been a problem for me, especially since I love to use laptops (with Windows Media Center Edition, and TV tuners) -
I use a dual layer dvd burner built into my HP zd8000, and the record now software. It came with the computer for free, so I decided to use it. The only thing is that I can no longer open up my dvd burners on any of my computers, when I go to my computer and open them, instead of getting a writeable folder I get a illegal operation error, or insert disc error.

I have halo2 and half life 2. Although I agree that half life 2 is an amazing game, and has a much better Single Player game than halo2, I still think that Halo2 is better for multi player.Half Life 2 is also very different than halo2. It seams to be more realistic in ways, there is no melee, and your health does not regenerate. Half Life 2 does allow you to hold more weapons, which works well on the PC, but on an xbox controller, while you are getting shot at, you do not want to have to cycle through a ton of weapons.Counterstrike, available on the xbox, and PC is much more realistic than halo2, but does not seem as fast paced, although it does include bots, which have so far not been included in the halo series Multiplayer, probally because of xbox live. Counterstrike is also much more realistic than halo2, and the counterstrike source features enhanced graphics.I personally have no problem running any of these games (HP zd8000 laptop with 17" widescreen, 3.2 gig P4HT, 256MB Mobility Radeon Graphics Card)Halo2 might not have as good as a single player game as half life 2 (or halo 1) but the xbox's xbox live service is unmatched, because most people end up having to purchase a mic. to play on xbox live, the games are also more even, since all xboxes have the same specs. Halo2's Multiplayer has also been frequently updated, with multiple patches, and the addition of nine new map. Plus it features the all important matchmaking system.

it is also important to know that SSL is asymetric, and uses a set of private keys, and a public key. Since each client has its own private key, and they are not using shared keys, it is like having an individual tunnel for each client.

My laptop runs on a Pentium 4 Hyper Threading Processor, although I don't reccommend this type of processor for travel, my computer is also heavy, runs really hot, is massive, and has a 45 min. battery life (and 256 MB video card)If you travel, you should probally get the centrino processor, the laptops wiht centrino tend to be lighter, and have longer battery lives. If you are just looking for a cheap laptop, and you don't travel too much, or need too much power, celerom should be enough, just try to go for a decent amount of RAM.

If any one is interested, please reply. This is just a little information about modding halo and halo2, which I think is a great way to extend the lives of the games.Just so you know, I am not talking about the cheating patches used on Xbox LiveHalo1: The modding community has had a lot of time to work with halo1. Although not many mods have been released for halo1, it remains the easiest to mod of the 2 halos (at this time). Programmers have dedicated their skill to developing programs to edit halo1, including one called spark edit, and another called Halo Map Tools. Modders have been able to create new weapons, vehicles, and even entire levels. AI, and SP to MP level conversions are also possible.Halo2: Although halo2 has not been out nearly as long, there are hundreds of mods out for it already. Not suprisingly, there seem to be a lot more mods based on "skinning" halo2, this is probally because of halo2's graphics. Right now there are many aspects of halo2 that can be changed, including injecting weapons and vehicles from SP to MP. Although SP to MP level transfer is not yet possible, and there are system link issues. If anyone is interested, please reply, and I can give you more information, and some links.

I thought that battlefield 2 was pretty short, and with online games like that the gameplay is changed when you have 64 people all fighting each other at once. They might want to balance out the game play a little more, like bungie did with the halo2 1.1 patch.

Timespilter 3 opinions.....thoughts......ratings.....
TJ213 replied to horaceface04's topic in Computer Gaming
The timesplitters 3 controls are much more halo like than the earlier games. The storyline is good, and provides some twists, although the multi player is more arcade like than halo, it also includes bots. -
I usually use sweep sniping, since my sensitivity is set on ten, but that does not seem to work when not in zoom. Is this true, or is it just me. At least the new playlists feature team snipers (unranked)

I origionally came to this site looking just for free hosting, but as I looked around the forum I realized this place is also a great forum community. I look forward to reading and posting here, my specialty is halo modding, and I am an administrator at Halomadness?.

Know Of Any Good Free Ftp Host Site? ...
TJ213 replied to fxfusion's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I would reccommend savefile.com, although you don't need to register, I reccommend it, since it lets you keep track of your files pretty easily. It does add some numbers to the file name though, so split archives will not extract automatically. -
I agree that magnum and smg is a good combo, plasma rifle and smg is now weaker, and besides, plasma is much slower than bullets. SMG is good to pepper the shield, and then you can use the magnum to finish them off (and help lower the shield.) Of course, I think that the BR is best.
