been looking for another os may give this a try. I have redhat 9 but had nothing but problems with it. Yet the more I try these free os out here I'm beging to think I will need to go back to the windows server. I hate windows with a passion. But have to admit can go to wronge with it so easy to use compared to most others. But I'm open to hear about others. Prefer those that you can use self extracting programs. hate to do the programing part.

Weather the site real or not. I need to get a locater for my truck. I keep losing it at the store always. Ive been told I lose my head if it was not attaced. But like most trackers out there. They are designed for those that are on the verge of brecking up. And need to get evidence of there cheating. yet those devise are getting so small you can place a camra and a tracking devise on a car to see where it goes and no one would know they are even there.

So if the mayor didnt order those buses to start pulling people out. Where was the gover could of order the mayor to use them and even sent in buses from all over the state. They knew almost 48hrs before katrina hit. So as days go by it apears there is anof blame for all.

been watching the news and saw a strabge sight. Here everyone is point the finger at those above them selves. But why didnt the mayor use all the school buses and the buses use for puplic transportaion. Lets see a 66 passager bus loaded with 75 people times 300 buses that could be almost 8500 people in one trip. But they are all parked with water up to the wheel wells.

unimatrix:You hit what I was think to a tee. Even if Bush did everything right got food water clothes and all the help everyone would need. The press and a few people would chasdise him for not doing anoff. And still say he hates black people, brown people, yellow people or even white. But it takes a small person to think that way. Personaly I try to treat everyone the same. They have to prove to me wheather or not I should give them the time of day or not. They treat me as I would want to treat them we have no problem. But if they want to be a jerk then I dont have to talk to them I can ignore them. But if they are in charge fine I work with them take there instructions. But I dont have to be around them when I'm off work. I live in a mixed neighborhood. 30% black 30% hispanic 25% white 15% other. None of us really care what our neigher is. We have block partys. Sit out and talk on our front porches. And keep an eye on each others house. Yet some people need a big story to promote them selves also. get people to go check them out and such. yea I heard about the comersial yesterday. Man that guy is such a loser. The pres does have a lot on his plate. The main thing is the safety of the people to get them out and see to there well being. With that many people in one spot you have to have the means to protect the helpers. Unforuitly to get everything moaplized it can take up to a week to even get things under control. So his point about bush not caring about poor blacks in New Orleans is crap. There are no colors when one loses everything they have built or gathered in life. For they all are poor now. As to rebuilding New Orleans dont make sence. Lake Pounchatrain is 1 ft above sea level and parts of New Orleans is 10-30 ft below sea level. If they rebuild they need to fill it in and rasie it above sea level starting at the leves and move to higher ground little by little. That would do two things it would make the levee higher and wider and stronger. It would take a long time to do. But If they do that the houses that would be buryed would have to be enament domain. The land that was filled in and there they could rebuild with the home built on cement piers to off set the soft dirt. Those that dont understand piers in construction. once the new leve is set you drill down to harder ground and pour in renforced concret along the foot print of the house at set distance apart. On top of the piers place the foundation of the new house. There are two choices rebuild and hope another cat 4-5 storm never hits again. or renforce the levees to with stand a cat higher than a 5. Or start buring the city as I disscribed above.

If I was a betting person I place my bet on MicroDot for they already won the fight against the US goverment. Yes the walked out with a slap on the wrist. But if they would of gotton what you or me had gotten they would of really been hurt then. To microdot they could lose a few million and never know it was gone. what they are hating is that they lost a couple of brains. They were out payed and waited till there contract was up. Hope microdot gets buryed yet I know they always be on top. Look at netscape they fought microdot and they lost and think are now owned by microdot. sun micro systems belive the same happened to them. So what makes you belive google stands a chance. Sorry for those that had called new orleans home. they were warned to leave town before the storm hit. some of them refused to leave even thought they had cars. those that had no cars the poor could of gone to stronger and high ground areas such as the hotels, buisness and such to ride out the storm. But those that breacking into banks atm machines and robing and raping. Good thing Im not in law inforcement I would have to just shoot to kill. In times as this we have to be tough on the lawless. those that are stealing food from the restraunts gas stations and stores to feed their love ones I would give them a hand. Yet the town needs to be bured and the ground raised up almost 40 feet. Look what happened to galavaston over a hundred years ago. It was wiped out by a hurracain and they were at sea leavel to maybe 3 feet above then they brought in sand and dirt and built up the town I belive 20ft above sea level now. And in Japan there is a town that buid a sea wall almost a hundred feet tall and from mountain to mountain to keep hurracan flood waters out. Ive taken in four familys from New Orleans from the company I work for In texas and my emplorer has agreed to but them to work. And to help me take care of them. And get this they offered to bring there neighbors out but they had no car and they said no thanks we are going to stay and have a party as it comes in. Looking over the code and I think I nerrowed it down to the common file. think there is a error in the coding. Going to run it throught my editor see what I get.

I'm beging to think that the site doesnt allow the use of certain scripts. I've tryed placing the members file in defferent locations and even tryed thr local area also pointed the way to the file still get the same area. Im going to have to just forget it for now. But If I cant get it to work there be no use to do anything else here. for I need the cookie to power the site so to speak. for each page reacts to the cookie as the user proceeds throught... Now does astrahost have a cookie login script that the members can place on there pages or do they allow ys to do it. I'm sitting here with my book open trying to fig what is wronge???????

Well modified the shebang or what ever you want to call it. Kept changing it till it got back to the original. I have the script on Xisto server. The script I got from this site please check it out. there address is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I can get the login page open just fine the instructions tell me to set all parts to what such as Step 6. CHMOD all the .cgi scripts 755 (except comm.cgi, CHMOD 644) CHMOD members.txt 666 which i did when I try the demo as user name and demo as the password it says Error: Unable to open members file. When i try to make new pasword it says Error: Unable to open members file, the file 'http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/' does not exist. but the page does. Made copys and placed it in both locations. I just dont know what to do at this point.

just cant get it to work quess im going to have to breack out the books and see where the problem lies. hope my red hat book or peral for dummies can help. Think I need to get the cookies working first before the members.txt page will start to work. Will load a second copy of the cookies under a diferent name so I can have a base copy to ref from in case I mess up the one Im working from. Hey houdini do you have ICQ?

From what I aware of id LongHorn is a server base version of windows. Dont think it will be for everday computer users. And if it follows the other server versions it will more than likely cost over a grand up to 1500.00. I dont think it will be cheap.

the script Im using is load on Xisto I can get iyt to where you type in demo and the the password demo and then it says cant open members page. or when i go to make new user put in everything and same thing happens. getting a little tiffed at it but i will keep trying cant think of what I doing wronge.

Sence I downloaded the script from Custom.cgi which is a free web program for login use. I've been looking at what I have and it I see that there is something missing with the first just cant put my finger on it. So that explans why I'm getting the code 500. With the other from Custom.cgi I'm getting 400 or was it 404 code that I thing I need to make a link to the right page. But I'm starting to make some headway with it. Not into making any money of the site that I'm making doing it for fun. So the script I found is free just have to keep the information from them giving them credit for the code not a bad price I say. I just have to find the write code line to edit and it still work the free script doesnt come with alot of how to information. So if you could go and get it. I did find the line for the error page that the script shoes you when you test the login page. Thats a start I think.

Just cant fig this out. Tryed placing the script in the cgi-bin and i can get it to come up but cant get it to post to the file to save the passwords. or i can get the register page to come up from the login page but the same result. when I add color to the script page at the top or bottom after the script the page dont load get a 404 error when I check the short cut from the file manager but if I click the show i see the code on top of the color im using. Sence I started this thread I'm using it to help others that may need help for if they can see what I'm doing wronge then they will not have to waste their time. Whished some of these programing genius would remmber when they first got in to programming how it was when their was a problem and no one helped them. I dont want their jobs just help I can understand.

Aw the newbe feeling. I know it so well I ask for help and what I get is so far over my head I need a helcopter just to see it. It helps if you place it in plan english tha a two year old could follow. When I answer a post I try to place my help in detail and try to paint a picture so they could follow. Strange as this can sound I dont agree with some copy right laws say a photgrapher takes a picture of a tree with a name on it. Days pass and someone else takes a picture of the same tree. Now you saying the first owns the rights to take the picture and sells it as his when did he have permission to take the picture from the owner of the tree? You can only write code so many ways before you start looking like everyone else. And backgrounds come into light who reall owns that background you reall like seeing on joes page did joe make it or did joe take it from sams page or was it given to him. even if you ask joe for permission does he own the rights to it???

Came acrossed something I dont know how to correct. Im getting an error 500 Apache/1.3.33 Server at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Port 80. When ever I try to bring up my login.cgi page place it in my cgi-bin folder and in another tryed linking to either same result can link to it if I name it html the page pulls up. Just cant name it login.cgi then I get the error page 500 will the cgi still work if the page is saved as login.html ??? I know Im looking at it just cant see it for the code.

Opps I did fail to mention the wireless-G part. But the instructions that came with my link systems wireless g range exspander says to place it at the furthes point from the router. I tryed to place it half way and I got a feed back or what you may call a ghost network the one I normaly use and one that the computers picked up from the expander. I quess it takes the weak signal and then gives it a boost when at the furthest and if in the middle it makes it own for it says that it is fine so we need to find something out side the good signal?

Here what i would say to do. I do have some knowlege of wireless networking. for that what I have here at home. I also have a garage that is detached from the house. What i did was install a signal extender in the garage. And placed the router in the window of the house with those extra length antennas on it. belive you are still with in the range of the router to the shop. Only problem is that others my beable to tap into your link make sure you place it under secure network. hope there is a window on the side of the shed faceing to your house as well to your busness. from what it sounds like is that your house is first then your shed then the busness. you need to installl the range exstender at the point that is the furthes from the router. the router should be conected to the radio link. and I belive you can have a cable ran to a point near the exterior wall of the busness near a window the signal can go throught glass easer than walls. the shed and house now are the problem. The range expander would be placed I quessing in the house wich is farthest from the busness. from the shed to the house if there is no windows run a caple to the shed from the house and connect it in a small hub and use the house as a gateway to the network for the shed. Or the shed might be able to get the signal just fine for the range expander is on one side and the busness is on the other. the range expander is about 85 dollers more or less. Im far from a expert on it just someone that likes toying around with computers.
