Best Way To Manage File/folders Of A Web Site?
743422 replied to KnightEagle's topic in Hardware Workshop
FTP Explorer works great. -
Personally, I would go with the pentium 4.It's cheaper, and, in my opinion, it preforms better. You get more fore your buck with pentium four.Pentium D simply allows more time before your processor is at 100% capicity. It doesn't allow more speed. Maybe it would help to improve fps in some games.Pent 4 allows more speed for lesse. This is what I have and would go with. My pentium 4 3.2 gh works great. If I had a million dollors, I would go with a higher speed pentium D. (3.2 or 3.4 gh). Unfortunatly, it is expensive to do this. Although capacity is important, I value speed higher. With pentium 4 you can get 3.6 for not tremendously priced. Pentuim D typically comes in about 2.8 gh, so it would be slower then a cheaper 3.4 gh pentuim 4.If you wan't the best processor ever, go with the Pentium 4 extreme edition. It is better and it is overclockable. As for energy consumption and heat and all that junk, who cares. Your processor may use 80-110 watts or whatever of power, while the lamp on your desk uses 110 plus the other 200 lights in your house x 10 million houses. The pool uses over 100000000. Heat doesn't matter either as long as you have a fan. The only thing that matters is SPEED.

PC Needs Medical Attention My computer is dying? Hardware probs?
743422 replied to cyborgxxi's topic in Hardware Workshop
I used to have a computer with the same problem. I never was able to fix it, but I have a few recomendations. First of all, I think the hard drive is the problem instead of the processor. I recomend upgrading to at least a 120 GB. You should always have about a third of your hard drive devoted to free space. Your computers stores something called memory cache on your hard drive. It devotes part of your hard drive to storying the data as the Ram sticks process it. This is why people often have to reboot their computer---they run out of available hard disk space. It might help a lot to update the hard drive. Second, try going to http://www.windowsupdate.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx and install updates. This sometimes fixis issues. A suggestion for fixing the logo problem with the graphic card is by seeing if their is any directx updates from microsoft. DirectX handles the logos. Try going to start/run and typing in dxdiag. This will bring up a window (give it time to load) that shows you computers specs. Click on the DirectX Files tab and verify that the bottom window says no problems found. Then click on the display tab. Make sure DirectDraw, Direct3D, and AGP texture acceleration are enabled. Then click on test direct draw. This will preform a test to see if it is working properly. Also do the Direct3D test. The next thing to do is try to update the drivers. Go to control panel/ preformance and maintnence/adjust visual effects. You can try choosing adjust for best preformance, but your computer won't look as pretty. Then click on the advanced tab. Under processor schedualing, choose programs. Set the button for programs under memory usage too. Under Virtual memory, change the amount to around 770 mb. Make sure Data Execution Prevention is off. If you have a lot of time, go ahead and run the free up disk space utility. Next click on the control panel icon Power Options Make sure it is set for home/home office use. Also set the following: Turn of moniter: 40 min Turn of hard drives: never System Standby: Never System Hibernates: Never (remember to restart your computer before playing a game to have a fresh start) Next go into the control panal icon---system. Click on the hardware tab Click on device manager Find you keyboard and double click on it. Click on the driver tab Click on update driver Do the same for the mouse Email me at jhaar11@aol.com if you have any more problems. -
I Have A Question About Defragging My HDD
743422 replied to LikMeBalleFM's topic in Hardware Workshop
I have some permanently fragmented files on my system too. It really is'nt an issue. One thing you can try though is goiong into task manager and ending all of the applications that won't crach your system (ex. leave explorer and spool going). End things like aoltray and virusscan etc. then try defragmenting.Ps. I don't know if this will do anything, but it's worth a try. -
Languages Worth Learning What languages should I learn?
743422 replied to FearfullyMade's topic in Programming
If you are looking for a language to learn that would benefit your field, I recomend French. There are many more componies in programming in Europe than in Mexico. Also, microsofts C++ and Java are used more widely in Europe. -
The main reason why computers slow down is because they get "clogged up" as they get old. When there are so many files and folders it takes a long time to search for one. Try going into your c: drive and deleting or uninstalling any files you don't need. Right click on internet explorer and click internet properties. Go to delete cookies and delete tempory internet files (offline files too). This makes a big difference. Tempory internet files are all the copies of files that your computer makes when it downloads something. Then go to start/program files/accessories/ system tools/Disk Cleanup. Let it scan your hard drives and then check tempory internet files, offline files, tempory files, tempory office files, recycle bin, and all other tempory stuff. Finially, defragment your drive. Going into C:/Documents and Settings/-your user-/ and deleting files you don't need ex. files that start with some old program you don't have on your PC anymore helps too.
