  1. Oh, hey! Thank you sooo much for posting up the new version of Firefox. I haven't checked the mozilla site in quite a while so I really wasn't aware that there was a new version up, so... thank you for informing me about that me too. Now I'm off to download the newest version... Thanks again! -- scryoko
  2. I don't know too much about computers but still, I would go with the vast majority's response and say Firefox. That's because, well, when I was using Internet Explorer before, I didn't even realize I had so much spyware and adware on my computer until my friend told me to use Spybot and Ad-aware to get rid of them. And when I first scanned for spyware/adware, there were so many of them!! And then later (because of a virus), I had to reformat my whole computer. After that, my friend suggested Firefox to me and after using it for about the same about of time I had used the computer with IE, I scanned for spyware/adware once again, and man, were the results low. Not to mention, with Firefox, it blocks waaaay more pop-ups than IE ever could. So, Firefox all the way. ^__^ I hope that helps, even coming a computer-illiterate person. ;; -- scryoko
  3. Gah! You're absolutely making me hungry! I haven't had my breakfast yet either so... that doesn't help, haha. Man... each of those dishes looks soo good. You're making me drool... lol. The cakes look very good, especially the Strawberry Shortcake. I never knew that they actually were supposed to look like that -- or that the "short" in shortcake meant "shortening." Thank you for that short but informative explanation; I just learned something new. Religious holiday, huh? Have an extra seat at the table for your next religious holiday feast? I'll be sure to be there... ^_~ After all, that picture with all those dishes on it looks soo tasty! Those "traditional petit fours" looks especially good, and the "marzipan petit fours" as well. They actually look like brownies... And another dish towards the back of the picture (the dish that looks like white dumplings with some type of green vegetable? on them) reminds of something one would eat when they go eat Dim Sum. ^__^ Anyway... ohh... I'm getting awfully hungry talking about all these foods. I'mma go eat myself. Ciao! And thanks for sharing these pictures and info with us! ^__^ -- scryoko
  4. Hey, this is soo funny! I actually haven't heard jokes in a pretty long while... >_<;; so this is like a kick off with jokes again for me, or something. ;; Anyhow... thank you very much for sharing the jokes -- I thought both were funny in an idiotic way, hehehe. -- scryoko
  5. Yes, I have to agree with crs_cwiz. Norton Systemworks 2004 is so infuriating. Sure, the program windows popped up when I clicked on them but it really can't detect viruses... Or even if it can, it can't get rid of them. It's because there were some viruses it couldn't detect (and couldn't fix/quarantine) that it completely messed up my computer and I had to reformat the whole thing. Infuriating is the right word... Anyway, I was wondering, crs_cwiz, can I ask where you got avast? I was hoping I can install this security program instead. Thank you very much! ^__^ -- scryoko
  6. Hm.. yes, I have to admit too, the sound heard when the cursor is placed over the buttons is a bit annoying. At first, I thought it was pretty cool, after a while, it started to get a bit irritating. >.<;; But, um, I noticed that on my browser (I used Firefox), the "Troop 777" text at the top of the right frame (with the blue background) is much too high up. Perhaps you can bring that down some? At least enough pixels where there can be space above the text? I think it will look better that way. Also... well, when I first clicked on the link to your site, I saw how you changed the appearance of "Troop 777" and I thought it looked better actually. But then when I clicked on the "Members" button (on the left panel) and saw the big bold, green-glowing "Members" text... I thought, wow, that looks really, really nice. One is because the black and the bright green mesh together really well; two is the fact that it actually looks more 3-D than the title of your website (the "Troop 777" text above it); three, the fact that there is movement in the green glow (and the way the movement is with how it begins from a fading, faint green to one that bursts out at you... that definitely attracts your attention. So I was thinking... that if your "Troop 777" text was like this, it would look totally awesome. It's eye-catching and it looks really nice. But hm... maybe if you couldn't use black and green (because it is going to be on the front page of your site), perhaps two other colors that will mesh well, as well as fit to the boy scouts colors? Hm... I think the red and green will work, but perhaps a slightly darker shade of red? I'm not so sure, but if you take my suggestion, maybe you can try the colors out and see which one works best. I hope this helps! Best of luck, -- scryoko
  7. On the contrary, Neverseen, there are others out there that may not be computer literate -- even if a little. Sometimes, it's the little things that may always seem soooo easy to others that they can it with their eyes closed and one hand tied to the back, while for others, it may be a bit harder. One shouldn't always assume that everyone or majority knows (how to do) something, because usually more than not, they don't, and may, perhaps, be silently ashamed because of that -- which I think they shouldn't be if that was the case. But well, whether or not a person needs a tutorial on how to make that comic bubble... that's for that individual to know and make use of it. -- scryoko
  8. Oh, wow! Thank you so much! I find the links very useful, especially the DHTML link. I can learn much more now... /am very pleased/ ^__^ The information and links were very helpful; I was immediately interested when I clicked on the links... ^_^Well, since I can't use MS FrontPage to do the effect on the navigation menu, now I can learn DHTML instead... ^__^ -- scryoko
  9. "Flash"? Can I ask what that is? I mean, is that a particular program or something you used to create that effect in the navigation menu? Actually, do you happen to know how to create that effect using Microsoft FrontPage? That's the webpage creating program I use... Even if creating that effect in the nav menu is in html code, do you know where I can find it? Sorry, for all these questions. I'm still trying to learn how to make better website layouts and whatnot. >_<;; However, thank you for all your help!! ^__^ -- scryoko p.s. Oh, I can't wait to see your site on Friday. !!
  10. My main search engine is also Yahoo! but I also occasionally use Google. Hm... maybe it's just me (as I'm really not an observant person) but now I'm curious... what is the difference between the Yahoo! and Google search engines? Because when I usually search for things, they both search up practically the same sites and links. Of course... that could just be li'l ol' unobservant me. >.<;; Now as for Hotbot, I actually never heard of this search engine before until now. But I'll take all of your advices and stay away from that. Thank you for sharing. -- scryoko
  11. He~y, this is really nice so far. I am loving the logo -- I just love how the spotlight is moving all around. ^__^ I also think the moving text, "Troop 777" is also great as it shows that you are proud of this boy scout troop; it kind of reminds me of a flag being waved back and forth, giving it a sense of pride. /grin/ But ohh!! I mostly love your main navigation panel on the left. I love how that when you move your cursor over the buttons (i.e. "Home," "Pictures," "Members," etc.), the whole button changes color! I've always wondered how is it that people do that. Do you mind me asking how you made that? Also... oh! Very nice choice of color for the mouse-over highlight, by the way -- it's green!! This color makes that specific button/link stand out very nicely. Another mouse-over highlight I thought looked nice was the sky blue-colored links that when you put the cursor over them, they are tan. I thought that made it stand out very well, and it was easier to read the texts too. But... I think one thing that may be a bit disturbing to the eye is the rather bright background colored blue. Maybe, perhaps, (since you still have to use blue and tan) you can use a darker shade of blue for the background instead? I think it might help, seeing as your bright colored texts and links (in the right frame) may stand out more if there is more contrast between the texts/links (mainly the sky blue colored links) and background color. Well, this site is looking good. Keep it up! ^__^ -- scryoko
  12. Hey! How neat! Thank you for the easy-to-understand tutorial, rockgoody. I'm nowhere near being experienced with using adobe photoshop 7 so I'm always open to learning something about how to use this or use that with photoshop. Sure, I'm playing around with the program myself, but it helps when there's a tutorial -- especially one that isn't hard to figure out. So, even though creating a comic bubble may seem rather simple, thank you for taking your time and sharing these "how to" instructions with us. I really appreciate it a lot! ^__^ -- scryoko
  13. Oh my -- wow! This is really awesome! I've always wanted to make a site that looks very... um... I don't know how to explain it, but it's like how you made it. How were you able to make everything so 3-D though? I loved that part the best and I've always wondered how people do that. I also liked how the colors meshed together really well -- not something that overly contrasts the other and not so... blended either. It fits well with one another. ^__^ Keep up the awesome work!! -- scryoko
  14. lol. Good point. Better safe than sorry, after all. Now I can go and pack up those bottle of aspirins. haha. Thank you for the suggestions, m^e, and the info as well. I never knew that .htm files were the same as .html files, but now I do and have just expanded my knowledge a little more... which I'm always happy to learn about, especially when it comes to computer stuff. -- scryoko

    Hey!

    Hi RagingAsylum, Welcome to Xisto. I hope you'll enjoy it here as much as I do from since the last few days when I just joined. Everyone here is very generous and helful and I'm sure you'll be getting along and diving in with everyone in no time. I'm also going to request a web hosting package when I'm qualified so I can upload my anime site that I'm currently working on up. I was wondering, what is the theme of your site that are you going to create? -- scryoko
  16. I'm not actually... qualified to request a web hosting package yet since I have yet to meet the web hosting package requirements so that's why I was wondering about this question. I'm sorry if I was asking useless questions. >_<;; But I still really appreciate the fact that you took the time to answer my questions, WeaponX. Thank you very much. Now, I'm not as worried anymore. ^__^ -- scryoko
  17. Hi, Does this mean that the files we want to upload can only be .html and .php files? Well, because for the site that I have been working on, I saved them as .htm files -- so I'm not sure if these files are... acceptable. Therefore, I'm wondering, can we upload .htm files up or must I convert them to .html files? Or... does this mean that only the main -- the home page of a site (the one that has to be index.html or index.php) have to be in .html (or .php) file while the rest of the other webpages can be in .htm file? Thank you very much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ^__^ -- scryoko
  18. Hi WeaponX, Ahh... of course. Quality posts are better than quantity (unless otherwise noted, of course). So I'll be sure to stop rambling when it gets too far. lol. I usually know when, right after I type the whole chunk, of course, but nevertheless... lol. Anyhow, thank you very much for the help given in answering my question, and the tips and advices as well. I now know a little better on how things work around here and what NOT to do in order to avoid trouble. ^__^ I really appreciate you help a lot on that, and now that I know that we can simply give replies all in one post... well, that'll make it easier, and less clicking we have to do with the mouse, don't we? ^_~ Well, I'm glad to have met you and thank you for the warm welcome. I appreciate that too. ^__^ -- scryoko p.s. Um... gah. I got another question. >_<;; I was wondering, after we make a reply to someone's post and we suddenly go back later because we have to edit something in the post... do we get an email notification of that too -- the fact that we made an edit to the post? Or do we simply get that first email notification that we (or someone) made the post and that's all there is to it. Ahh... I'm sorry to bother you but thank you very much in advance for helping me. >_<;;
  19. Hi Quadfreek, Hm... I'm just getting started on this forum and I think I'm going to really enjoy it. With such nice people as you, I'm sure I'm going to like this place a lot. I never have been in a forum before so hopefully, it will all be cool. Yep, I totally agree. When people start to ramble... boy do they. lol, I know that from experience... and the next thing you know when you realize that you did ramble, you wonder how in the heck did you get to THAT topic... /snickers/ But anyway, thank you for the very warm welcome; I really appreciate it a lot. ^__^ -- scryoko
  20. Hi m^e, Thank you for the warm welcome. I can already tell that this forum would be friendly from the kindness you showed in taking the time to reply to this. And I'm glad I could ramble... I tend to do that a lot and later when I actually realize it, it's like, "Gah! Not again!" and then I proceed to go back and delete the unneccessary stuff or just leave the rambling in there altogether just because I'm so damn lazy. >_<;; lol. Anyhow, I'm glad to have met you and yes, I think I'll just take a plunge right in. -- scryoko p.s. I'm sorry, but I hope you can help me. ;; I was wondering... if we wanted to post replies to different people, do we post it all in one post (where we post in this sense: Hey (so and so), Post Reply... blah blah... -- scryoko Hi (insert another name), Post reply.. blah... -- scryoko (And so forth). Or... can we post the replies to each person individually -- therefore making more than one post (where in this way, you can address each person more individually and personally)? I'm not sure how this works since I've never been in a forum before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. But if you can't, thank you very much anyways. ^___^
  21. Hey, I just thought I'd like to say hi and introduce myself a little bit, hopefully making new friends. I'm a sophmore in college with an unnatural obsession with anime and manga. My favorite is Gundam Wing and Duo Maxwell is my favorite character. I'm a big yaoi/shounen-ai fan but I also like het a lot and the occassional yuri -- it all depends on which anime/manga and characters actually. Well, other than GW, I alos love Bleach, Power!! (or Girl Got Game), Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, Boys Next Door, and quite a number of other manga/anime. Hm... now I'm kinda curious... if you guys are interested in anime and/or manga I mean -- which anime/manga do you guys like? I hope I'm not scaring anyone away. lol. Hm... what else? Let's see, I also like writing fanfiction (though I have to admit, I'm at a terrible stage of writer's block right now -- to the point where I believe my own writing style has despairingly declined) and I also like drawing -- this is also declining -- sort of anyways. Well, in accordance to anime/manga style art, yes it has declined, but in relations to real life drawing... I'm getting much better. God this is sooo weird. xDDD I think that's all for now. You guys are probably tired of hearing me ramble, lol, but don't worry, I don't blame ya. I would too if I weren't me. ...Really. lol. ;;
  22. Hey, Quadfreek, I'm actually new myself but I thought that I should say hi. ^__^ I think that's really nice of you that you're making a website for your school, but I also take it that you are perhaps in the drumline, or are maybe interested in playing drums? I wanted to make a website last time for my school newspaper but my website creating skills sucked last time (well, it's getting better this time, haha), so my other friend managed it instead. Well, I wish you success in creating your site. ^__^ -- scryoko
