Three-State System Failed attempt to create 3 state system.
jpod999 replied to infamousflame's topic in Hardware Workshop
What would be the difference between a 2 and 3 state computer? Would it be more powerful or would it just be longer battery life in laptops? Why is a 3 state better than a 2 state? -
So if this doesn't actually change the operating system from Home to Pro, then why would anyone do it? Does it make people feel better if they are running Pro? If I were to go and buy a Wintel machine right now, I would want to have Pro, just because I have heard there are problems with updating and apps and stuff.

1 Playstation3 + 1 Linux = 2 Good To Be True ?
jpod999 replied to qwijibow's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Wasn't there a PS2 Linux thing you could buy? It wouldn't have run very good though because the PS2 is definately not as fast as the PS3's are going to be. I can't wait to see the PS3's in action with all of the settings set up to the highest settings.2 Teraflops is really amazing for a game console. Pretty soon you won't be able to buy computers as we know them, you will only be able to buy gaming systems. And who cares, they are faster anyways! -
Firefox will still probably be a better browser than IE7, just because it is open source, and has so many themes and extensions. It is hard to beat a browser that has millions and millions of people working on it. I am just happy that Microsoft is finally learning and is incorporating tabs into IE7.

Firefox is really fast. But you should probably try downloading a complete new one that has no cookies or any files it in. I find that sometimes doing that speeds up the internet.

It worked in Firefox. Some of the pages aren't there though.

You mean Microsoft is trying to make XP a good operating system? WOW!! I can't believe it!

I have never had much luck with email clients. For me it is just easier to use the webmail because it always works and isn't slow. I did use Thunderbird for a while though!

I like Firefox a lot, because of the tabbed browsing and the integrated search engines. But it seems that lately a lot of pop-up ads are getting past it. I don't know why because it never used to do that. It won't stop me from using Firefox, it is just kind of annoying.

I just usually play games from addictinggames.com. My iBook isn't good enough to run games at a fairly good level.

.Mac is awesome. I love having the iDisk, it is really nice for transferring stuff when you don't have a usb drive. Also, the iCards are really nice. Great if you need a subtle way to tell your parents what you want for your birthday/christmas.

I like iTunes. I have never had a need for any other music player.

I absolutely HATE myspace. It is a slow website, doesn't look that good, and everyone here is positively obsessed with it. They wake up and check myspace. They check myspace at school. They get home and check it 20 times. Then they finally go to sleep right after checking it. It actually seems like a really boring website also.

Worlds Oldest Search Engine.... And possible the worst one.
jpod999 replied to Umbra's topic in Search Engines
I searched for "doom" and it came up with something. Funny how it doesn't come up with Google though. -
The Bad Side Of .....google things you never heard
jpod999 replied to harriko's topic in Search Engines
It is kind of scary to see that. As a Gmail user myself (who isn't these days), I might start re-thinking using it. -
4 days?!?! Not so great. I am running an iBook G4 800Mhz:( with 384 RAM. Also Tiger 10.4.1. My uptime: 9 days, 19 hours and 40 minutes. Try THAT on a Windows box.

I Made A Widget! *Tiger users needed*
jpod999 replied to Brian1405241474's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I couldn't get it to work. The widget would just stay as a blue rectangle on the Dashboard. -
What Is Your Favorite Ilife App? vote
jpod999 replied to Brian1405241474's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I would have to say Garageband. It is really fun to make music because it gives you a different perspective of the whole industry. It kind of gives you a better understanding of what the artists do throughout the week. iTunes is also great, but since it is free from Apple's website, I don't really count it as an iLife app.I like iPhoto because it is an easy way to store all of my pictures, and it takes the pictures of my camera, effortlessly.iMovie is pretty awesome also, but I have yet to use iMovie HD.Since I don't have a Superdrive, I have yet to find a need for iDVD. Needless to say, I still installed it. -
Has Anyone Tried Tiger? The new OS release called Tiger
jpod999 replied to lesmizzie's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Tiger will run on your G3, but it won't run extrememly fast and you won't be able to take advantage of all of its features. The upgrade of a G3 to a G4 could very likely be possible, but in the end it would probably end up costing more money than just buying a new one. The new iBook G4's are pretty nice:)
