Recently I have been seing some 512mb GPU's, and they look pretty nice... but on the downside they carry a hefty price tag. On newegg.com I found this one (there are only three on the site right now), for under 800 bucks. But for less than that I can two chaintech SE6600G's for 390 bucks, and run them in SLI configuration, but the only problem with that is I would have to buy a motherboard that is SLI compatible wich would cost 300 dollars, like the ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE. So I would end up spending around the same for both. As you can see I need some help deciding, so if you could post anything to help please do so! here are the specs for the 512 and it costs 799Core clock: 400MHzDirectX: DirectX 9DVI: 2Memory Clock: 1100MHzMemory Interface: 256-bitOpenGL: OpenGL 2.0PixelPipelines: 16TV Tuner: NoTV-Out: S-Video OutVIVO: No

My System Specs It said you could brag about them....
IcedMetal replied to Jguy101's topic in Hardware Workshop
Yeah... it is possible, here are my specs for my new computer3.4 intel pentium 4 EE 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533 MHz 3x74 GB Western Digital Raptors (if you dont know those are 10,000 rpm) 256 PCI-E x16 eVGA geforce 6800 ultra Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS w/ Dolby 7.1 P.S. i have seen mobos that are 16GB compatible -
You are an idiot! I dont know what dark hole you crawled out of but AMD stands NO CHANCE against intel! The 3.4 extreme edition crushes any AMD, even the Athalon 64 FX-55. Intel's support PCI-E and DDR2, does AMD support these NO. AMD's clock speed is no where even close to Intel's, even at overclocked speeds. I mean which would you rather have 2.91GHz processor speed or the 3.83GHz powerhouse Intel offers (both of them I overclocked, but not to breaking point), i choose the Intel. Now SLI has come out, how can you even think AMD is better, is it just because you read it on some website, do you even have evidence of your strong belief that AMD is better than Intel? You can't just go around talking about things you dont know about. Read PC MODDER's issue that compares the two, guess who won this year and last year... GASP...!!!

Visual Studio .NET - Should I Buy It ? Should I Buy It?
IcedMetal replied to VJgamer1405241488's topic in Programming
NO! Do not buy it. You can just get it free and legal from Microsoft's website. The are giving out Visual Studio 2005 for free. Of course it is just a beta, but it is free and basically complete! -
Do You Program/code Your Own Games What games have you made?
IcedMetal replied to FearfullyMade's topic in Programming
Well not including this really *person* game i made in RPG maker, I have completed one game; Pong Remake! Haha. Anyways I did say completed. I have tiny bits of programs I had been working on scattered all over my computer. Just a tip if you start programming; STAY ORGANIZED. Also you will need to plan your projects out first, otherwise they will fail. That is what happened to the majority of mine. -
Online Multiplayer Game What language to learn in order make it?
IcedMetal replied to iGuest's topic in Programming
Some programing languages like CGI, Perl, and Java are good for making games online. You could also use PHP which is a mark-up language... I think. -
Yes, RPG Maker XP is a really good maker. I do not particuarly like the game makers myself because it makes me feel like someone else is doing the work for me. So I woul suggest Blitz3D. This is a very simple programming language that has 2D and 3d capabilities. You can download the demo from their website. http://www.blitzbasic.com/ and you can get some resources for it at http://www.blitzcoder.com/. Hope that helped.

Heh, sorry 'bout that. I have never done it like that and just looked at it as a syntax error.

Well, ya jet your idea could work. Have any of you ever done those "never-ending story" posts? If you have you will know what I am talking about. Someone could post and idea and some begining code. Then someone else post more code. People could edit/revise the code and add their own ideas. Again, this is just an idea.

How To Send Email Using VB (using SMTP) ? best way to send email in vb
IcedMetal replied to connectpal's topic in Programming
I , myself, am not sure about this. My friend says it can be done purely through VB. I will find out more about this from her. I have doubts about your legal purposes of this program you are going to make, but oh well, it's your choice. -
Scanning For Ip Address scan ip address most efficient way
IcedMetal replied to connectpal's topic in Computer Networks
http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to the newbie's area in their forums and post there. I will not teach you how to hack, even though it is not illegal. If you want a port scanner; search it on google.Hope this helped -
All I can say is, "I wish I could go that fast."Just imagine sitting at home looking at the window and seeing rain pouring down and noticing you have nothing to do. You walk to your computer and think to yourself, "Hmmm, I've always wanted to see (insert movie)."So you just click on over to some movie downloader and in a couple seconds you have the movie. Or you want o talk to a pen-pal in Egypt, you just click you video conference and you are instantly connected with no mlag at all. Better yet you have 0 latency on your favorite internet game!

I have a great idea for this section of this forum. There needs to be a Novice area and a Advanced area. I see so many "What can i use to make a game in one day" posts. It's crazy. The novice area should be for the people that want to make a game with better graphics and gameplay than Half Life 2. the advanced area would be for people that understand that game making takes alot of time, patience, and skill.

yeah all that is true. but if u are overclocking and worrying about to much of a heat increse u might want to consider a better heatsink than your stock one. it would help to reduce heat when overclocking. and if u want to do some serious overclocking and know wat u are doing u might want to try water cooling i use 8% antifreeze and 92%distilled water and it seems to do relly well under stressed conditions

I have looked for Photoshop tutorials all my life. Not really but you get what I'm saying. This site was very helpfull to me. I learned everything starting from the basics. Now I can make my own site template. Awww, such a touching story. I bet your thinking, God damnit why does'nt he just post the site already. Don't you love suspense? Ok, fine the site is http://www.good-tutorials.com/, great name huh? -----This is not a tutorial, but instead a link to a tutorial. Therefore, this does not belong in the tutorials section. Moved to Designing section.-----szupie
