  1. well, from a designing point of view...u need a clearer hierarchy of what is the foreground and what is the background.here your background image is taking away attention from ur words, which are further detracted because they are fuzzy and blur.i'd say u can improve by being clearer on what's important and what is not... and communicating that hierarchy in your work.
  2. well, a light background always gives a clean, professional look... assuming u don't clutter it up with other stuffs.personally i'd say if you want to go for a white look, then pursue it to the fullest by making everything on ur page clean and minimal. this gives a clear identity and advantage...never be neither here nor there. that just appeals to no one.
  3. i started off with coreldraw + paint shop pro,well... but that was because i was kinda lazy to learn to get use to the slightly more complex interface of photoshop.forced to use photoshop recently because it was the only software avail in school, i am kinda beginning to feel that it is much more versatile and powerful. i guess many people might be stuck with PSP cos it is kinda easier to learn.all said, PSP is a great learning platform for those new to photo/paint graphics....but nothing really comes close to replacing photoshop.
