  1. Actually adsl2 is not the fastest in the land. Verizon has started installing fios which starts at 2mb/5mb goes at 2mb/15mb and for the bandwidth hungry 5mb/30mb. My Uncle has the 15mb service and gets speed test results of 1.5/14.Some of the early tests for adsl2 have not been too promising. The speed decreases dramatically once you get a few thousand feet away from the co or rt.I have also heard that cable has the ability to go at speeds to rival verizon fios. I think it is optimum online that does 1/10 service. (although that does not quite compete with the fios yet).Just some thoughts to keep this very interesting conversation going. (I always like talking about bandwidth).BTW, I have sbc as my isp. We have a 512k/3mb connection with absolutely no bandwidth caps. Nice for running my game server off of.Fourthbean
  2. I guess it depends on what kind of wood and what shape the wood is in that you are mounting to. I am using a 1x8 or something that is stained and do not get any sawdust on my motherboard. I haven't noticed any scratches on my motherboard either, although I don't look for them.
  3. There is no nead for waxpaper, just setting the motheboard on some wood will do just fine. That is how I have my motherboard, just screwed to a piece of wood. It is not conductive and won't melt, only thing you have to worry about is it catching on fire. lol, not really it would take a lot more than a cpu to catch a piece of wood on fire.Have fun overclocking,Fourthbean
  4. Wolfstein enemy territory is a freeware fps. So Americas army is not the only freeware fps.
  5. The only game I play is bf42 and its mods. I have played fh a little, gc, dcx, pirates, stunts, and probably 10 other mods over the 2 years or so that I have had the game. I used to like desert shield but it is not as fun for me anymore. What I do like is berlin ctf in dc.Do any of you have xfire? My username is fourthbean if any of you do you are welcome to come play with me on my server.Fourthbean
  6. I didn't even get one quarter of the way through and started reading the comments. I was going to say that I didn't like linux using windows "technology" to make it better but I see now that I don't have to worry about that. lol
  7. I have been messing around with Red Hat linux and like it. One tip it you install linux on that pc don't install kde, use gnome. Gnome is much lighter weight and won't run as slow. BTW, fedora core is technically the same as red hat but a newer version. And now for my pc specsAXP2500 @ 1.1ghz due to my mobo's capacitors bulging and having to underclock it for the time being.8rda+ motherboard1gb pc3200 ddr in dual channel mode80gb hard drive Radeon 9800npSparkle 300watt power supplyFourthbean
  8. If your houses are close enough to string a cable between then all you would need is a wireless router and one of you to have a wireless card. Or if you are feeling confident you could just have a wireless card in each pc and run in adhoc mode where one computer is the base station and the other connects to it.Fourthbean
