Smash Brothers isn't really a true tournament fighting game. I've played it and found it to be a little gimmicky. Don't get me wrong, it's a great multiplayer game for when you have friends over. I just don't think it qualifies as a true fight.Anyway, does anyone here remember Clayfighter? It was fighting game that was done entirely with stop-motion clay figures? It was definitely more on the novelty side rather than substance but It was funny as hell. There was that and another game called Primal Rage that I remember fondly on my old SNES. It was done with stop-motion dinosaurs, sort of like the old movies. They'd tear eachother apart while little humans on the ground would get stepped on and eaten... Good times.

I was at Bullmoose today (The best record store in Portland Maine) and I picked a double CD called 'On the Shore' by 'Friends Of Dean Martinez.' It's entirely instrumental and all I can say is that it's incredible. I haven't really heard much of their stuff before but I knew that most of my friends seemed to love it. And for good reason. This has got to be one of the most musically fresh albums I've heard in a long time. It's sort of a jazzy, tex-mex, alternative fusion that eerily reminds me of Radiohead for some reason.Anyway, I stumbled across a great record and now I'm passing the word along.Cheers.-Noel

Suggestion/querry: Art Forum? Just tossing up an idea.
ndhill replied to ndhill's topic in Web Hosting Support
Definitely. I think it'd a perfect oppurtunity for artists who are already hosted here to start networking with eachother. New artists would see the gallery and the estabolished community and see it as a way for them to get their stuff off the ground. -
Keep in mind that I can only speak as far as my own preferences are concerned, but for me, I'm a big fan of the "less is more" concept." That means a minimalist color scheme, simpler shapes etc. Just experiment with color combos that pop for you and go from there. As far as your logo, I'd steer clear of using literal imagery associated with dreams and just remember that it can be anything you want. I think people are pretty good at spotting when others take the easy way out and spacey imagery seems a bit obvious. Not only that but starfields offer a lot of distraction design wise as you have a lot of simple white on black points jerking your eye around and not providing a true focal point. Your title "dreams in digital" can mean just about anything and it's worth exploring what other images it may evoke for you.

People have been trying that. It's not that your specific password was erased or messed with. This is a wide-spread issue with the server. -

I imagine that anything joints or positional parts could work. Desk lamps, vacuum cleaners etc. What do you have lying around? Your possibilities are probably endless. -

It's been working on and off for me all day. My guess would be that there's not anything we can do on our end yet. It's got to be the server. -
The Best Graphic Sofware
ndhill replied to remonit1405241472's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Corel Painter: This is exactly what it sounds like; a painting program. With a good pressure sensitive tablet, this program can be used to create and manipulate a images the same way you would be able to by hand, traditionally. I use this more than anything.Photoshop: there's a no brainer. I use this mostly for preparing web graphics, tweaking levels, applying text and juxtaposition. Because Painter is really only suited for painting, I use Photoshop for everything else. There are some things that Painter may try to do but can’t really pull them off as well. Photoshop is a well rounded jack of all trades.Graphic Converter: This is a cool little freeware program that’s great for reading and converting every image format imaginable. I also frequently use it’s nifty little slideshow feature to browse images. -
To the AdminsI was wondering what you guys think of possibly hosting an art sub-forum. It seems that there are at least a few people here who might be interested in this. Basically, it'd exist separately from the graphic design forum and would be focused more on art for art's sake rather than a pure design aspect that would be for a more practical use. It would be a good way for the artists here to share their work, gain some exposure and receive feedback from their peers. I was thinking that it could be split into two sections, a discussion section and a gallery section for finished pieces where all threads must contain images. What do you think?-Noel

My First Stop-motion Animation 866 kb gif
ndhill replied to Herbert1405241469's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
It's good to see that there are a few people out there who can appreciate a means animation that doesn't involve CG which in my oppinion is very overrated and over used. I just can't help but think that special effects as they are now, are ruining movies as audiences and hollywood alike seem to be in the stuck in the "big effects budget=Good movie" mindset. Give me 'Chicken Run' over 'A Shark's Tale' any day. -
I was just at the official Mortal Kombat: Deception website and I just discovered something pretty cool that Gamecube owners like me are getting. Two additional playable characters; Shao Kahn and Goro!

I felt like that just from making the switch from Mac OS9 to Mac OSX. OSX was a pretty vast deviation from what I'd been used to but it won't take you long to figure out that it really is very simple and efficient. As for emulators... *cough*MacMAME*cough*

I know what you mean. I just want a well rounded fighter that has good play mechanics. I was a little skeptical about Deception because it seems to be packed with so many gimmicks like deathtraps, chess, puzzle fighter, quest mode, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love that stuff, but it can only keep my interest for so long.

I have two internal HDs in my computer. A 20 gig that I mount from and have all of my software on, and a 40 gig that I use entirely for media such as artwork, school stuff and music. I'll probably end up buying an external USB HD later on just to have some form of portable media that would solve my zip-disk and CD burning problem forever.

That does stink. I bet that'd also mean that cigarettes are illegal too. At least when it comes to those, I think we should all follow Singapore's example.

Hey. I just reserved a copy of MK6 for the Gamecube at Gamestop and before I decide to drop $50 for it, I wanted to know if anyone here has it and what they think of it. I loved the first two MK games and I thought Deadly Alliance was ok but nothing too special. No comment on the installments in between. Anyway, how does DA stack up when compared to the previous titles? More importantly, does it stack up to other fighters out there? I've been pretty spoiled Soul Calibur II which is an absolute masterpiece. I don't want to get DA if it's going to keep me occupied for about a couple weeks till I eventually find myself going back to Soul Calibur II.

It probably is for your own good. Red Bull is nasty stuff. SoBe makes a good energy drink though.

A good word-processing program. - Appleworks which probably comes with the machine.Good photo viewer and editor. - iPhoto or just about any image editor you can think of is available for the mac. There's a program called Graphic Converter too, which I believe is also out for the PC, and that's a handy little piece of freeware.Video editor. - iMovie, iDVD, Adobe Premiere. (the first two are free).POP3 program.- I wouldn't know.Nice internet browser. - Just about anything you can think of plus Safari (by apple) which blows 'em all out of the water.Chat client that can handle MSNM, YIM, and AIM. - iChat handles a AIM and mac.com accounts. I'm sure you can find something that handles the others too.

I forgot the apple store. We don't have one in our area yet but we do have a cool little local place called Gorham-micro that specializes in selling and reparing apple computers and selling mac software... I imagine it that doesn't compare to the Apple store though. It's strange why we don't have one. Our former governer, Angus King, initiated this huge plan to provide all low income students in high-school and junior high with iBooks. You'd think after that, Apple would've more agressively pursued the PC market here.

For the most part, when it comes to software, you can find mac compatible programs fairly easily. Either the developers of the program you want made it themselves, there's a third party port or there's a substitute that closely resembles it. You'll probably need to get used to buying things online though. Most major retail stores like Best Buy or Circuit City do not carry mac compatable software. I'm not sure about CompUSA. Be sure to correct me if I'm mistaken, anyone.

How to Reduce Spams Let us help fight spams.
ndhill replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
For mac users out there, one trick that I've found that works 9 times out of 10 is to simply select the offending SPAM and go to your message menu up top and select "bounce." It's a pretty primative tactic and doesn't work all the time but I've personally notice a significant reduction in my SPAM. -
