i am blaming the ftp software.I used the cpanel to do the udate via the website, and not the 3rd party ftp program which must be to blame as there are no other eventualities.thanks for all your time & help

hi, thanks for helpiing.Now the weird thing is I have cleared the cache in ff & ie, and also deleted the index_html file in the public folder on the server and it still loads. I have tried replacing the old index_html with the update via ftp and it does so without problems, but seems to be showing the old file! reading from elsewhere? is that possible? I used to update like this - without problem , now the gremlins have got in somewhere, i dont understand it.also when pressing the refresh button it should update the page if it has changed.Is there a way to see where the web page has loaded from?thanks for any ideas.chris

hello, trying to update my website, and have found a problem, well i thought everything was under the public_html section (for viewing) and it was - im sure as i regulary updated my site via ftp. Now when i do so it has no effect in updating, in fact i even deleted my index_html files as a test, and the site still works?? is that weird?so my question is where is my website? and how do i find out its address/location on the host server?thankschris

well maybe you are right about not giving up, but what about flogging a dead horse. Im trying to use a template now, ive another post somewhere with some of the details, my current site is antiquephotographerwith .com on the end and www. at the beginning (doh), used msword2000 for it, nice and simple.regardschris

Have found a template i klie the look of for my website (which is up but not looking to professional) http://www.hypertemplates.com/search/page1.html?keyword=7770 but before i buy it i would like to ask you experts here, how easy/hard is it to edit (i mean transferring my own pictures and text and stuff like that.) I havent done anything in dreamweaver and stuff before and just know photoshop really thats all. Do you think i could do it myself? what level/time would it require thanks for any advice chris

Trying to get a new business of the ground,the idea is to display event photographs (under maybe 5 current categories) with an online ordering and payment system.I will then print out and mail the pictures myself.I am supposing to use Zen shopping cart for selection and paypal for payment , could anyone recomend a photo gallery program to fit in with these programs? or offer any better advicethanksthanks again for your help clever peoplechris

well i havent changed any passwords, and cpanel login box comes up, i type the name and password in, but then it goes away briefy and comes back again empty, so i cant log in.any ideas? i dont think it is todo with sohopro launchthankschris

Hello, thanks for reading maybe you can help,I was trying to redesign my site using Soholaunch Pro Edition , and installed it using fantastico, but now have decided against.I had a new login for that site, but now cannot access cpanel. (my site/cpanel) as before.I am now trying to uninstall Soholaunch Pro Edition, but cannot as i cannot access my cpanel.i seem to have now mysite/sohoadmin, but cant work out how to uninstall this from here.My ftp program can no longer log in either.any ideas??thankschris(have i explained it correctly? probably not, i am not 2 technical)

there was a useful post pointing vulneribility to the older version of firefox to phising, so i downloaded the latest one, and it just dont do nothing, (well it loads), cant get on the web and stuff. I am guess it is not just me??i tried looking at the help page and a load on nonsense about stuff and no answers, has anyone had the same problem?christhank goodness for IE, it never lets you down or loses your favourites or stops working, just lets a few pop ups in occasionally!

WTOwell if you do a deal with an american company/government you will defineltly not get a good deal, same with israel. Do a deal with the arabs! haha who can you deal with these days?The whole reason for dealing is so both sides are better off through comparative advantage, trouble is in SOME poorer countries the Govenrments and officials are extremely corrupt and siphon off all the monies through their scams, leaving themselves filthy rich and countries paying the price. this is often why poor stay poor even after tonnes of aid and trade. Without trade most countries will suffer badly.I agree with globilasition, look at the advantages in productivity microsoft has brought us all. thats all for now folks
