  1. I was just wondering, where did you get this mod from, because I want it on my forum as well.I can find one for IPB 1 but not for IPB 2.Could you please tell me...
  2. There is also free database hosting at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I found it's ad in Google AdSense. I've never used them, just stumbled on it.
  3. That's great, except I think that you could make the inner rounded border have the same "curve" as the outer one.
  4. I think that most of us hosted at Xisto don't have SSH access.I know that SSH really speeds web development as I had SSH access at SourceForge. If your FTP client is good, it will automatically recruse through the sub-folders and delete the contents. Such a client is FileZill (which I use).
  5. Notice, that most of us don't have shell/SSH access: user@svr ~$ ssh cryptw@cw.astahost.comThe authenticity of host 'cw.astahost.com (69.50.168.69)' can't be established.RSA key fingerprint is 28:79:b0:99:d5:3c:cb:9e:9d:6f:42:f7:2e:80:52:dd.Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yesWarning: Permanently added 'cw.astahost.com' (RSA) to the list of known hosts.cryptw@cw.astahost.com's password:Shell access is not enabled on your account! If you need shell access please contact support.Connection to cw.astahost.com closed.
  6. Yep, it sure does. There muct be some other trick to it.I would also like to ammend that Micro$soft sucks as well.
  7. It currently says: If JSP was working, <%= new java.util.Date() %> should have been replaced with the time.
  8. Now, I've upgraded by account, but JSP still won't work:See reference in first post.
  9. Slight improvision on the script to skip prompting in case it's enabled, since cronjobs can't interact: #!/bin/bashrm -fR /path/to/temp/directory/*
  10. Actually, there's a simple map to give you the numeric. Start with n = 000 and add all that apply from this chart: Owner Group WorldRead 400 40 4Write 200 20 2Execute 100 10 1For example, if you want everone to Read and Execute but only the owner to write: 400+40+4+200+100+10+1=755 So 755 is your numeric. Seems quite easy now, doen't it.
  11. PHP:FasterEasierOpen-SourceNot owned by Micro$oftAlso, I don't know ASP.And look at those poll stats.Which you think that is the best languagePHP [ 30 ] [100.00%]ASP [ 0 ] [0.00%]Total Votes: 30
  12. Nah, Java's fine for me.I like to stick to "modern" languages.I may learn C#.net soon, although it's by Micro$oft, which I hate, but I feel it's going to become the language of the future, which I like. Also, it's similar to Java, so it's going to be easy.
  13. Let pbolduc put forth his/her theory and let all of us make our best endeavours to find fault with his theory, thereby condemning pbolduc to hell, provided that there is no fault found with the theory of hell! With regards to the Big Bang Theory, which at this point no fault has been found on:/me hauls "Basic Psyshics Refernce Manual Volume 1: A-C" off bookshelf and dusts off the cover.... Based on the theory e=mc² discovered in {xxxx} by Albert Einstein, showing a distinct link between energy and matter, come a theory of the creation of the universe. The Big Bang Theory discovered in {xxxx} by {Some Guy} states that there was a "big bang", converting the infinite energy present in the {universe} at that time, slowly into matter and this process is still happening today ...I will show you's more quotes from the imaginary "Basic Psyshics Refernce Manual" series that is present only as a {xxx} representation in my brain.
  14. You can't get away here without knowing some basic SMTP.Normally, you would set the Return-Path, however, since you are using the mail function, you would put From: <where@ever.it.is> in front of the message body.Hope that helps.
  15. I don't really care, due to the fact/reality that I have an life!
  16. I think patch cables are LAN cables right?I don't think they'll work.Standard network cables have 8 metal bits and it uses all of them.
  17. Please tell me your distribution of GNU/Linux so I can give you more specific instructions. Make sure the installed kernel supports your network card, firstly. If it was from a major distribution like FC/RedHat/Debian/etc. it should support it. If it doesn't the best way would be to compile your own kernel, but i won't go into that here. If you use DHCP: Enter the command prompt and type: dhcpcdor if that doesn't work dhcpd If you don't: ifconfig netmask eth0 <ip address>Remember to replace <ip address>! Post the result of those commands here, so I can tell you how it went. Hope that helps.
  18. My sole hard-drive is an Seagate EIDE 7200rpm 80GB
  19. What's a POS drive? Also, those special motherboards include something called a hotplug controller. They automatically detect new hardware, are very expensive and are present only mainly in servers. Once I plugged and extra IDE hard drive to my home computer (which is obviously non-hotplug) and I attempted to mount it and to my suprise, everything worked. I could browse and read and write from the drive. And, yes, there are always restart-to-take-affect updates, commonly know as kernel updates. The kernel is Linux (the core of the Operating system). Most of the rest of a basic system is GNU. So, it is also only fair to call "Linux" GNU/Linux.
  20. That's very useful.I'll be looking back to this when I get a keyboard with hotkeys.
  21. Techinically, you don't even need to put the copyright sign. Here's a trick I learnt from another forum. You just send the copyrighted item to yourself in the mail and never open it.The postage mark can act as proof as to when you copyrighted it.Cheap copyright for 50c (at least in Australia).
  22. You don't need <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"> for Mozilla-based and Opera browsers, they automatically look for /favicon.ico.Only for MSIE (stupid Micro$oft).
  23. phpBB is fine if you just want something really basic, but if you want something serious, get Invision Power Board.Unfortunately, they've gone completely paid except for an encoded trial and Fantastico.DON'T download the trial.I have some old fully functional trial versions of 2.0.0 PF 4 and 1.3.3 Final. If you want them, post here with your email address.PS. That's not illegal, because you can't give the public the right to use software, then take it away a few months later. Also NO to yaBB. It uses way too much resources and doesn't even use mySQL. It uses flat file.
  24. The normal FTP TCP port is 21.And 21 is also the case here.
  25. Deleting the script manually with FTP is very slow as it has to recurse through all the folders.Just use the cPanel/Fantastico uninstall script first, then check to see if it missed something.
