  1. Is nicely playable with everything on high here (with a few tweaks ofcourse), it looks really sweet. But that's the only thing about it. Weapons are a pain in the *bottom* to handle, that aiming down the sight thingy is weird. Storyline is just another standard first person shooter one, it all looks the same. Single player doesn't have much of a replay value because of that. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet though.ps. AI is better than in a lot of games, but they still shoot pathetic, played it just one step below the most difficult level and it was just a case of running around with a spraygun and rush through.

  2. If you strip out all graphical based program/services and just leave the kernel and some other basic commandline tools, you should have about 10mb's left of operating system. Also, with Damn Small Linux around, you can also use those cheaper flashmp3-players to store an installation on.Still wondering if having an OS running from your flash memory isn't too bad for the lifetime of the memory. Didn't flash has a quite limited amount of write actions or something?

  3. The battery is only used when the power cable itself is unplugged, in my comp (not an iMac though), when you turn the power off there's still a small current running through my motherboard which keeps the settings and time alive. When I'd plug out the cable the battery should start taking over. So when you don't have a battery it shouldn't matter. Not sure if this is the same with iMacs though.

  4. hm... Wonder what the temperature would be with a Presscot and quad SLI Geforce7800GTX'es. Would be funny if it would be hot enough to deepfry fries o something. It surprised me that the demi-water trick (they also tried that at toms hardware) didn't last longer than 5 minutes. I'd expected that one to work nicely too.

  5. I don't know why you want to upgrade but according to zdnet your pc should have 256 ram right? If you really want a good performance out of your pentium 4 you're gonna buy, you should get more memory, at least 512 I think. Also, when you're buying a new motherboard you also have to get a new videocard, unless you want to use the onboard VGA.PS. Why would you want to get a new case for anyway? With all the hassle that comes with building stuff in you might as well get an entire new setup.

  6. Just thought of this, without copying existing and proved to be good technology. We'd never have computers or anything technological. Imagine everyone had to invent the wheel again, with everyone reinventing something already invented you never have time left to actually do something new.ps.And for what Jeigh said. Dang.... I didn't even realize it that it wasn't sony who was copying controller-design. LOL

  7. There's no way a Linux can be more popular than windows, don't get me wrong. Linux is more or less superior, BUT, in this world it's MARKETING that counts. As long as Microsoft keeps pumping up those dollars to promote their software, no free non promoted alternative can gain more ground than they. Also, most people share the microsoft policy. If it works, it's ok. It's normal because people (most of them) are always going for the easy way. And if it works for them, why trying to have them learn something they don't want to or don't feel like needing to? This (most countries) is a democracy you know :DSo unless everyone changes all of a sudden, it's not going to happen.

  8. Maybe killing someone off because of an honor issue is a bit over the top, but I think you could say that every nation has it's own laws and ways of handling things. I am not saying we should all be killing everyone who did something unhonorable, but I mean that you can't judge someone else's moral rules by your own. Talking about religic motives, what about crusades in the middle ages? For instance, the death penalty is something similar to this. In the netherlands, we think it's bad and therefor it's forbidden, but in the US (some states) they still allow it. Same goes for firearms too. So if a country finds that adultry should be punishable by death, well.... Don't people promise at weddings that 'till death do us part' thingy? (I do think that being forced is another case)Honor is something long forgotten in the western countries, porn, prostitutes, greed... politics. A lot of unhonorable things happen here too. I think it's a good thing that people want to preserve their honor. Although slaying someone for it is a bit harsh I think.

  9. What you are saying about gameplay depends on your skills really. In call of duty, you can rush towards enemies with a bolt-action rifle and just shoot m dead in one shot. Same thing is applicable in CoD2. Machinegunning is too wastefull because you seem to need buckets of lead in order for bots to finally drop dead. And with a rifle, although it requires something called a-i-m :D they're dead on instant, which saves you time for the 3 other enemies standing there.FYI, I play the game at hardenedWeapon balance has took a deep fall down since the sniperrifles are way to overpowered, the scope is more stable and has a greater field-of-view. The german machinegun, the mp44 has too much stability and shoots too accurate. Also, when using smokegrenades you are still visible for your enemies because their crosshairs will turn red if they spot you. Finally (about weapons) they could have turned that ridiculous X mark of when you aim at someone's head.Graphics, it looks really sweet, agreed, but if I can't even play it without stuttering with my Geforce 7800GT and AMD 64 clocked at 2400mhz and 1024 of RAM... Well forget it. The game is coded way to inefficiently and almost never runs smoothly, whatever setup you have. Of course, unless you use Directx 7 mode. Which makes the game looks like CoD, which makes it pointless to buy cod2 since CoD's gameplay is nicer.I'm running it with everything on high or maximum, but even so, it should run perfectly smooth, which it doesn't. And to confirm what you said. Details are soooo pretty, CoD's graphics are nothing compared to it.The reason why it's not an instant classic is as follows:- The impossibillity to run the game smoothly, which renders it not playable , especially online, where everyone happily runs around spraying with submachineguns.- Useless stuff like red-turning crosshairs and a special you're-aiming-at-a-head-crosshair.- Screwed up weaponbalance, any n00b can use a sniper now, or will just walk around with a shotgun, handling submachineguns is too easy. Aiming with rifles is more difficult because the aiming-down-the-sight is covers more of your view.- Finally --> NO ANTICHEAT, CoD came with Punkbuster anticheat clients, and CoD2 doesn't even have something similar. Conclusion:I did buy CoD but CoD2 is just not worth the €20 of the €60 they ask for it.

  10. Dang... Didn't know that one, although it does seem to me that transferringspeeds between 2 new SATA drives is a tad higher that that of 2 new IDE's.Anyway, atleast get round IDE cables since with so much harddrives it's going to be a bloody mess.Since you already have IDE drives it's probably better to stick with them and just get extra IDE controllers.Tip for next time : Consult before you buy, it saves money and you make sure you get the best stuff for your money :D
