this is the problem i'm having:rpc locator is set to run automatic on start-up, but it doesn't. i can't run it manually, because it gives the following error: "Could not start the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." it's quite important to have this service running, a lot of other services depend on it, for example the firewall.. :s and the internet connection... anyone experienced this before, or does someone know the solution?

i use unFREEz (witty name, eh? it's free, and animations are the opposite of 'frozen images) and i am quite happy with it... http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/ it's less than 20 kb and works really simple: just drag 'n drop the images into the screen, pick a frame delay and check loop animation (or not:)) it can go weird when you drop a lot of images at once though...

Tried Designing Web Templates, But I'm No Good
friso replied to PUNKANGEL's topic in Websites and Web Designing
i like designing templates too, and as long as you like it, it doesn't matter how good they are ;) but why don't you show it? i posted one of mine, and got some really useful comments on it. links: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://www.zymic.com/ i like those two sites -
ok, my account has been suspended (long story, really sorry, am unable to stay active... ) so i have them here. http://usera.imagecave.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t although i'm not sure whether any banners will be chosen, this topic isnt very active... and the 31 () credits would be wasted if i would win, but that wasnt what i did it for anyway... (and mine arent THAT great, anyway)

friso replied to fusion1405241494's topic in Websites and Web Designing
ha-ha-ha... very funny... i guess he means for no money... don't you think? well, all i have to add is an extra recommendation for notemplates.com -
well, i never heard of wuts as a game maker program, what is the site? sorry, just kidding. i use gamemaker http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. it's made by a dutch professor, mark overmars (not the dutch soccer-player ) it's simple, but not very easy. once you understand the system, you can work with it really well, but you need to think really logical to debug it. would you decide to make a game with gamemaker, post it!

Awsome Photoshop Tutorials A great tutorial site
friso replied to IcedMetal's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
hmmm... sounds good, but i like notutorials.com better. (even a greater name, isnt it?) i haven't got photoshop, but i can use the tutorials anyway, everything is explained. not just how you do it, also *why* you do it. i found this site through notemplates.com, someone here named it, and it has good templates. same for notutorials.com (but notutorials.com has got tutorials instead of templates ) -

Physics Behind The Lightsaber Can it become true
friso replied to Amadeus1405241494's topic in Science and Technology
i read some star wars books that took place after the movie-story and read some more. the lightsaber is a beam of pure energy, but i see no way how to of those swords could block eachother. maybe if the energy keeps moving around, which makes it a kind of chainsaw with energy instead of metal. if some one will find a way to make a real lightsaber one day(they? just kidding) i would be happy to buy one for quite some money -
yeah, i knew that a long time.. it's really funny, especially that hgniiiiiiiiiiii! there are so many cs-things like these on internet, almost too much!

ok, i quoted all comment here: those are the commentaries: bigger screws [i will]same borders everywhere [i will] 3d effect [could someone explain that with images? - visuals work better than words on me ] homepage text should stand out more [ok, any ideas?] better fonts [yeah, i picked random, not very smart ]navigation smaller [ok, and another font too] work on my color scheme [i will redo all not gray-things, and maybe colorize them] navigation and content same background [ok, i will do something in between, just one 10px border left [black-dark grey] grey middle and one 10px border right [dark grey-light grey]] anyone else who wants to add something to this list, put it under your post, in one line please.

sheet of paper... hey you're right! thanks, and what exactly do you mean with 3d? make it || instead of ||?? - that's not very clear, i mean add a new border, slightly lighter, and fading out in a few lines. is that what you mean? maybe i will do that, and if i won't i will make the border thicker and not as simple as it is now. i will also make the screws bigger. i made them small because first i wanted to something else, and for that, they had to be really small, but that idea turned out to be nothing. oh, and dragon, i picked those fonts purely coincidental, that was one of the things i meant when is said i would edit everything. i agree about the homepage text, it's not very clear. any ideas on how to make it stand out more anyone? thanks for the review!

i also like star wars, and don't think it is crap, however, unlike some of the nerds - they do exist, but not every star wars fan is a nerd - i *can* get it out of my head i think i will go see it soon, but i'm not *that* enthousiastic.

Ok, this is my very first template. i used some if ndhill's art in it, and the rest I did in... paint! and i used wordart for the fade-effects... i saw this template <>, looked at it once, and did the rest without watching at it again. this topic is not in website review but in graphics design because i'm gonna make a lot more (i think) and submit them to template gallery's, and will only use one for my own site. i'm gonna edit a lot, so comment everything! the empty things on the left are... empty, maybe a place for a tiny blog, affiliates or shoutbox... here it is: PS: @Noel, i don't know if you want your things in it, but i only did it because i couldn't find anything else that fast, and i have another version with nothing on those places, so i can easily change it. just say what you want.

looking at your avatar, i think you mean enter the matrix? well, actually, i agree with the games-movies thing, games should be very realistic, (that definetily doesnt mean no magic etc.) but... graphics is only one side of making a game realistic. and if you overdo the graphics, you will get the balance all wrong and basically well, waste your game. i also agree with kitkat. i love rpg's, and think challenge and versality are very important. for example (not really an RPG) gta1, i started playing it again some time ago, and the graphics are nothing, but challenge is good (those cops can really chase!) and versatilty is good too. although all missions are not much more than driving around from one place to another, because of those 2 lines that explain the mission to you, they all seem different. plus, gta had got a great sphere, you can just taste the gangster-smoke . i also found great sphere-creating at nwn, baldurs gate and kotor - all BioWare games (i love bioware!) so a game has to be: realistic (not necessarily super-graphics) versatile challenging and it has to have a good sphere

first: the poll button is next to the new topic button, it's a bit weird, because a poll is a topic too, but not in this forum system, apparently .I only have a PC, and love it, except for the controls. i am used to keyboard, but controllers (or joysticks) are actually better. ofcourse, you *could* plug a controller into your pc... of ps2 and xbox, i think xbox is a better game experience, but not as much games. although, if you have an xbox, you can play jade empire, a fantastic game , but once you finished that game (after a long, long time), you have less choice in the next game. PS2 has much more games, and is pretty good, too. too bad there arent that much xbox games 'tis but my humble opinion...

boy, you *do* like that pixel-font-outline, don't you? to be honest, i like it too . i agree about the picture, you should do something with contrast and brightness, and see what turns out best, now the room looks very old and dusty, not attractive at all. the template is very simple, i like it, seems to be your style, maybe you should do the following, it has a very nice effect. you take that picture of the couch, make it very very light, almost white, and enlarge it. then you put a part of that behind the part with site map | help & schocon - construction made easy part. you should really try that, it's works like a gradient for a background. makes it less simple-in-a-negative-way but it's still just as simple-in-a-positive-way. get it? and i don't think you should add a gradient, you already got a few. nice work!

OK, I'm absolutely no professional, and can't tell the best choices in this, but this is just a step-by-step tutorial, if you want to add something, or recommend a certain choice, please, do add it. Step 1. The hardware. (Picking the Perfect Case) the best thing is to buy everything separate instead of buying a total computer at the K-Mart. you will pay more, and buy things you don't need, or don't get the things you do need. First, pick the case you want, view (Picking the Perfect Case) for further advice, be sure you watch these things: 1: Compatibility - good measurements! 2: Expandibility. - do you want more cd-rom drives? 3: Cooling. - no noise and over-heating. 4: Looks. - totally white or pimp my computercase (casemodding)? After the case, see what you want in it. in that, i can't help you much. you need a motherboard videocard, processor, memory and some RAM, the rest depends on what you need. Step 2: OS (War of the OS World) First, you need an OS. There are a lot of discussions on this, i can't give you the real pro's and cons of each one, but here goes: The most used is Windows (it really is! ) Linux is the one with the cute penguin Mac is the one known for its weird-colored monitors If you can't choose, pick two and dual-boot. Visit those topics for more information. after installing your OS, make sure you got the configuration set to your preferences, and the perfect software -> Step 3. Software browsers: these are the best know: IE - microsofts, standard with windows, not very much positive reactions ; Firefox - by Mozilla, most used after IE; Opera - don't know very much about it, seems to be good; Netscape - same here; word processing MS Word - comes with windows; wordpad- very simple; jarte - equivalent of ms word graphics: Pixia and the GIMP, i can't choose for you, pixia is more simple, the gimp is more powerful - from what i heard. musicplayer: Windows media player - comes with windows, asks a lot from your pc winamp - simple, asks less. sound-editing: Audacity is the most powerful free software. i don't think there is a better choice. IM: totally depends on what your friends use... Antivirus and more: Avast! - free (as long as it isn't the professional) multi-purpose av. Spybot - Search&Destroy and AdAware against spyware. That's it for now, comment it, and add anything.

funny, never knew that. well, many words in modern languages are roman, etymology is funny. (for those who don't what it is: etymology is finding out where a word comes from. especially in chinese characters it's funny to see where they come from. for example: big disaster is the sign of a big flood (as in the Bible) or sometihng like that. and choosing between good and evil was something with a tree (Bible again..) really interesting. i couldn't find the article, but you should google it. PS:no offence, but please quote when you quote. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ &http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ both give that article.

How's My Web Site Template? comments plz
friso replied to ebbinger_413's topic in General Discussion
great, but it also depends on the purpose/theme of the website. what about 'Chocolate Heating System' ah, well, the template doesn't really match with that... I agree with chiiyo on the buttons, but maybe it's bigger (so easier to read) in 'real-life'. i also like the Xisto.com links, another happy customer like me *do* post the final product, if you change anything. -
Notice from rudy: You can quote somebodyĆ¢s post but not duplicate the text in his or her post. Edited by Rudy sorry, i just had to do it. advise: make your posts a little longer than the required 10 alphabetic characters. well, i only use it for the not because of the functions. i guess i could also save that tag, and use notepad, but i guess i'm too lazy for that... well, i hope people who need an editor read this and use it.

dream. I really like your banners. i can't decide between your banners and chiiyo's banners. just one note: it's Xisto - Web Hosting, not computinhost. it has absolutely nothin(g) to do with putin so you can put the g there. other than that i love them. dream: very nice graphics (the computers and the fonts) | simplicity through perfection. chiiyo: very artistic, they attract more. mine: (i will leave that to others ) edit: i updated mine too, ^^ please review (click on the smiley) Notice from jipman: Posts merged

nice site, but i suggest you use the same template/layout on every page, looks a lot better, i think... for the rest, it doesn't need anything.
