One of my friends had linux server not restarted for almost one year. After all he restarted it cause he had to change some hardware.

In what meaning "you can do anything with them"? I think that windows isn't sefe, and it isn't free and most of applications are free.

Why do you think WinXP is better if you have never seen Linux?

There is no general answer to this question. It depends on what do you want to use OS to. Server - Linux, Desktop - WinXP or Linux (with KDE or Gnome it is really easy to use this system). Besides Linux is totally free .
