I know a lot of people using their Windows PC first for gaming, secondly for text processing, and third for surfing on the web.
And if you have a look at each new game arriving on the market, you will probably see the company advertising first for the console, secondly for Windows PC, and probably they will forget porting on Linux.
Simply because a lot of family PC's are nowadays sold with Microsoft Windows installed, and need almost nothing to be done by a child for installing a game from the CD reader

hopefully steam will help increase game development for Linux

I'm looking for a simple video editing tool (Haven't worked with any before) for cutting/editing video files
What i want to do is simply cut portions within video files (flv/mp4/mkv etc) and then merge the wanted parts together... simply removing unwanted portions from within the video and then rejoin the needed parts
cheers

Anyone here using Steam for gaming on their Linux installation? How are they with Gamepads?

Anyone using LinuxMint 15 with Steam?

I think one of the factors would be to do with the Network available. Different regions/countries have different types of network systems. I think here in New Zealand we don't have CDMA networks anymore, closed last year.
Another could be just a marketing scheme allowing variant options for customers to choose from, and also some phones are a revised version of the previous release adding on few more hardware enhancements/down-grades. Example LTE availability in different versions of the Galaxy lines of devices...

i use to have a 3.5" 5400 rpm hard drive on my PC and i can honestly see noticeable difference when swapping it with a 7200 rpm drive...
best way for your laptop is to add/swap with a SSD drive... I have a hybrid drive (semi SSD) and there's a little boost in speed compared to my standard 7200 rpm drive (of the same capacity)

Platform:Linux Mint 15 KDE (just installed and did update & upgrade)I have three network connections -1. Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 Gigabit Ethernet2. Intel Corporation 82557/8/9/0/1 Ethernet Pro 1003. Realtek RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+Problem:When all three are connected to my router (Thomson 4 port ADSL2+ router) i don't have internet, when i remove one, internet access resumes. Tested all combinations including just one connected and they all work. LinuxMint doesn't seem to like it when all three adapters are connected to the routerI know the router and the network adaptors are fine because when i boot into Windows 7 and Crunchbang 11, i can surf the web without an issue...help please

So what you are saying @yordan is that you can't use SAS drives on normal laptops or desktops.... Is this right ???
probably require SAS controller for the drives to be usable on PC, i wonder if some motherboards for standard PC has these
-
It might sound stupid, but what is Apache 2 virtual host. What is it used for ???
for running multple websites (domains) under single IP address
-
SSDs rock.. I will recommend 15k rpm HDD called sas drives
these sas drives have standard power connections like standard 3.5" or 2.5" drives?

thanks OpaQue
it worked ... just created a copy of "default" and named it "website"
then altered the folder directive to point to "website" folder
then a2ensite website and it worked

What about the Bezel portion of the screens in between. I am definitely sure it would ba annoying but how much ???
initially it did... eventually it somehow disappeared - hehe well feels like it when you use to it
-
Your experience is more practical than that of mine, so I guess it deserves more weight. If it feels nicer as compared to the 4:3 screens (as you say after having experience with both), then it should be preferred...
at first it feels weird (ime)... but then once you're use to the wide multi screen its quite nice and you wouldn't wanna go back to playing single screen

Other than adding virtual host directive on sites-available/default
<VirtualHost *:80>ServerName http://myDomain.comserveralias/ mydomain.comDocumentRoot /home/user/htdocs/mydomain</VirtualHost>
do i need to setup anything on the domains DNS setting for this to work? or is the A Record assignment sufficient?
would i need to set some kind of permission on the folder on the server?
my understanding of this is that when a http request is made to mydomain.com the DNS server will just throw it my ip and then Apache will handle the rest??
cheers for any help

It has been some time since I have experimented with stuff (went kind of busy lately)... But I do know that a newer version of Linux Mint is available. And maybe this newer version doesn't have this bug. You need to give it a try to know for real.
Yip Mint 15 Olivia is out... and as always another great release from the Mint Devs
Evga Gtx 660 Ti Ftw Signature 2 Vs Evga Gtx 670

I have two EVGA cards
1. GTX 660 Ti FTW Signature 2
2. GTX 670 (stock reference)
I'm going to sell one of these two and keep the other for a gaming rig i'm building but am wondering which one to keep. The GTX 660 Ti runs quieter and cooler...
