  1. Another possibility would be to transmit large enough pieces of information at light speed that we could reconstruct that information into mass with existing energy at the other end of the information line. Kind of like a transporter on star trek I would assume. You would need a 4 dimensional type of 4 dimensional printer/scanner more or less. It would scan the 4 dimensions of spacetime in the local area, digitize it, and send it over a laser or some other light based techonology, and at the other end, you would have to have a second one that could "print" your existence to that space/time with matter/energy that already exists in the local area. Right now we are able, with pigments, to only recreate refractions of light. We need to focus on smell, taste, texture, etc, and create a device that can recreate all of these things. This is kindof a joke, but wouldn't it suck if you scanned yourself and there was a "paperjam" as you were printing out at the other end.
  2. didn't mean to post any false info.. I spent all day yesterday trying to access it and couldn't. Sorry for the alarm, I was just confused and worryied..Thanks for such a prompt response, if it happens again, I will just pm you about it.
  3. I haven't been able to access my site for about 2 days now. I can't get into cPanel or access the site itself. I have been experiencing problems for a while now, but this is the longest time I haven't been able to access it.
  4. If you were to use the profile hiding code, I don't see why you couldn't just input your dreamweaver code into the table and be done with it
  5. If you view the source of a page you can get all of the neccessary classes of items and customize it appropriately with css. That's what I did and my page looks good. It looks the best in ie, because of some filters and an embedded font, but I did everything by hand.
  6. Thanks Brainless for the correction, however, I don't quite think that this evidence will ever amount to FTL speeds as we are trying to achieve c speeds, not slow light down which moves at c in a vacuum. c is constant. I think that we need to find new mechanics rather than try to debunk E=mc^2. Research has been done in areas like quantum tunneling and wormholes that I think will produce more results than anything else. Quantum Tunneling has achieved "speeds" like 4.2c or something. This is not an actual speed, and therefore not outside of the theory of relativity, but rather, kind of finding a shortcut.
  7. Light, as we know it is by definition a wave. However, my feeble attempts at understanding physics have made me come to believe that a wave is kind of like another state of matter. There is a theory in physics called wave-particle duality, which states that all particles can become waves based upon the circumstances in which they are observed. Thus light could be reduced to particles given the right circumstances. The particles they have reduced light to are called photons, but photons aren't only light. They make up the entire electromagnetic spectrum. E=MC^2 basically says that Matter is Energy. So that also goes the other way around and all Energy is Matter, which means that light does have mass, although in it's wave state, the mass is immeasurable. As stated above, light is actually a section of the electromagnetic spectrum which is all possible frequencies of electromagnetic radiation. However, visible light only accounts for a very small section of this spectrum. in order for light to remain light, it would have to stay within that small range. If you speed it up or slow it down too much, you will turn it into a different form of electromagnetic radiation. Thus, about the only thing you can do with your discovery is change colors. If you remove time and/or velocity from the equation, what would you use to measure your speed.
  8. The computer I'm on is actually my girl friends parents, and runs xp.. It's completely thrashed with spyware, etc.. Then I have an AMD box downstairs that's running 2000 which is currently not connected to the internet, sadly, because I can't do anything but use it for my iPod and my girl friends pictures. Then I actually have an old 2003 server box but it isn't even plugged in, and I don't know what I am going to do with it at this particular moment in time. Somebody sold it to me for 100$. I really had no use for it then, and I have no use for it now, but it's there.
  9. The huge risk with a topic like true AI is that humans will abuse it. You know that the gov't would use it for war. It's a guarantee. And chances are that it wouldn't be a robot war, but a war on humans with robots as the weapon. If you dropped 10 internal combustion style robots on an unsuspecting country, the impact would be devastating. You tell them to destroy everything in sight, and they do until they run out of gas. Then you go in, pick them up, and voila, no more little enemy. I know this sounds far fetched but it is actually very close to being a possibility now. Robots are incredibly strong and they can see humans as humans, cars as cars, and that's all they really need. Detect a threat and irradicate it. Shadow has developed a hand that would have no problem pulling a trigger, and there are others out there. There was also a British engineer who built a robot (supposedly) from the mini cooper. It was like 18 feet tall and looked like a transformer. His research pages can be found here. This has been attacked by a few people as a hoax, but there have been sightings in the area that he was supposed to be working, and the videos are pretty convincing. I don't know.. I think that AI is a huge risk to humans simply because of the fact that we are destructive by nature.
  10. I kind of have experience with a lot of different phones. It really depends on what you are looking for in a phone, and which provider you are using. I like Sanyo the best myself, but they can only be found on sprint. I also like LG, although I'm not fond of the phones they've made for Sprint. I don't like Motorola, because the screens on many of there phones are really low res and difficult to read. I hate samsung, because, although they tend to be the most feature rich phones, they seem to also be the least reliable. I have had 3 samsungs, and I can't say any of them made it past 1 year and could still be relied upon. 2 of them only made it 6 months before small problems arose. I think nokia is more concerned holding there place for most models of phones on the market, than they are about putting out solid, reliable phones. Not to say that all of their phones are poor quality, but they spit out too many phones to have a really good QA, plus most of their phones are pretty bland in the style section, although I have seen a few that were nice.
  11. No one knows for sure if using a cell phone is hazardous to your health. But sources report that a 20 minute call can raise your brains temperature by 2 degrees. I'm not a neuro-physician, but that doesn't sound all that enticing. Not only that, but who knows what the long term risks could be. And we may be doing permanant damage to our species and altering our genetic coding. This is a stretch, but not deniable. We have no idea what we are doing to ourselves and we have no idea what we are doing to the environment. What kind of research have we done on the effects of cell phones radiation on water. I know that other forms of radiation can have an effect on water, even thought has been shown to manipulate water. So, with the knowledge that we are primarily composed of water, it is a safe assumtion to say that at the very least affecting the water of our bodies inversely. And removing radiation from our discussion entirely, we come to whether people are capable of handling the use of a cell phone responsibly. For example, how many people drive with a cell phone up to your ear. If you do, you have probably put at least one other person and yourself in danger in the past week. Add this to the heavier SUVs that have taken the US by storm, and the already less than alert people driving, and we have a huge danger to our health.
  12. I have had several camera phones, and I must say, that while I had them, I did love the feature. But you can't take a camera phone everywhere. If you go to a court house, they will ask you to check it in at the security desk. That's disturbing to me. I don't like to leave 3-400 dollar equipment with a security guard, or anyone else for that matter. not only that, but I really think you sacrifice on quality with both the phone and the camera by combining them. Having said that, I do feel that the pictures they take are perfect for weblogs and email and the like. but if you carry a digital camera around, which my girlfriend is notorious for, you can always lower the resolution on there. Or you can lower it at home when you edit all of the photos.I have actually gotten to the point now, that I don't want a cell phone at all anymore. They are so obtrusive, and if you have one, more often than not you carry it everywhere, and then your rude to the people around you by calling other people and stuff. If I want to talk to you, I will most likely go and see you, or go online. But for the purpose of this thread, I would have to say non camera phone 100%.
  13. I read somewhere that you could use a flash movie for you myspace.. Like hide everything and replace it with a swf file. But I don't remember where I saw that
  14. Check out CSS play for min-height and min-width.
  15. That's awesome..I wish I could even come up with stuff like this... thanks. Notice from jlhaslip: Request completedTopic closed
