  1. I don't think that Windows Vista is so good that people who had Windows XP would be anxious to switcht to Vista. Why is that? Simple because Windows XP has its history and although it had many bugs there were the service packs which solved almost all of them and with a good antivirus you have nothing to fear. Also XP has lots of software and there are still many programs not fully supported by Windows Vista. And the most important thing is the resources needed to run the operating system. I think XP uses a fair amount of resources compared to Vista. It's kind of strange when only the operating system you use takes so much resources and keeps so little for the programs to run. This is important for people who want to play games or use programs which require a lot of memory for themselves and don't want to buy a new computer with at least 2GB of RAM and a directx 9 or 10 compatible card to be just having a recommended configuration to run Vista. And what do I think about the new look the 3d windows and stuff? I think it's useless and if I wanted something like that I could have it long time ago in linux. I think Vista will be ok in 2-3 years when most of people will have much better computers but for now Vista is not a general choice. I read somewhere on internet that Windows wants to develop a new operating system and release it in year 2009 so in the time that I think Vista will begin to be the most used operating system. So the next generation operating system will probably have to wait a few years too if Microsoft won't come with something radically new and usefull that would make people switch from their old operating systems witch which they are satisfied.
  2. I don't use Windows media player because I use BSplayer Pro which I think is much better for watching movies and videos. It also has more features and can do things which Window media player doesn't. For music I use Winamp because it was my first program for mp3s when I got a computer that could play them and I got used to it and that's why its the only program I used to play music for several years. I know they may be other good programs maybe even better than Winamp but I was lazy to check. What I think could improve in Winamp is that it uses too much resources. And I use the modern look Winamp because I like the look of it.
  3. Fallout is one of the best RPGs which were created in this genre. It is also one of my favorite games together with its sequel Fallout2. Although the graphics weren't anything special, it had a superb story with detailed world and a dark postapocaliptic feeling and a very unique sense of humour. I loved this game so much that I have beaten it several times. And so I couldn't wait for Fallout 3. Unfortunately Interplay had quite big financial problems in that time and so they chose to stop the Fallout 3 project. There is a pre-alpha tech demo out on internet from the original Interplay Fallout 3 which you can download and play although its only one small city map with a the vault and its from a very early stage of development so nothing special but you get the idea how could it been finished. Good old Fallout with nicer graphics. So after the development was stopped the rights to develop Fallout 3 were bought by Bethesda a company that created the Elder Scrolls series of which the most known are Morrowind and Oblivion which won many prizes as best rpgs of year. So you can say that I should be happy that Fallout 3 is in good hands, its developed by a company with good reputation and lots of money. But the problem is I never really liked Morrowind or Oblivion. Why? Because I got bored playing them after 2 days. Maybe it was because I'm a fan of old school 3rd person isometric view RPGs like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or Planescape Torment and Fallout. I liked to have a group and I liked the combat system where I could pause the combat and think about what to do next. I didn't want a chaotic combat system like in Oblivion with wild clicking around as if it was a first person shooter. When you think about it although both were RPGs they were totally different. And that is why I'm not sure what to think of the Bethesdas Fallout 3. They already change the view to first person and also changed the combat system to suit their first person style of play more and it makes me wondering if it still will be Fallout or just a postapocaliptic Oblivion. I hope that the third sequel will remain true to the Fallout series. What do you think? For fans of Fallout who don't know, there is a very good site about all Fallout games: http://www.nma-fallout.com/ with lots of interviews and news about Fallout 3 too.
  4. I played two MMORPGs and that is WOW and Runescape. WOW has really nice graphics but I think its too much about combat and gets boring after some time. The quests are mostly go there and kill 10 of this kind of monster which isn't what I expect from a good RPG. What I like about WOW is the beautiful world full of detailed cities, the landscape is fantastic and I had most of fun from just exploring the world.Runescape on the other hand is a Java based game, which you play directly from your browser, you don't have to install anything or have a good and powerful PC with expensive graphic card to play this game. The negative thing about this is that the play window is only 640x480 and the graphics cannot be compared to the 3D accelerated graphics used in WOW. But graphics isn't everything when the game is fun. This game offers a lot of more skills which can be really used to create useful items. The quests are very unique and very entertaining. What I like about this game that there is a working economy in this game. I had most fun merchanting items and making money. I also like the sense of humor used in this game. There is a free version and a paid version in which you can use more items, the game world is bigger and generally there are much more features. With more than 1 million paying and several times more free players its one of the biggest mmorpgs out there. My personal opinion was that generally I enjoyed Runescape more although its much more simple than WOW. But the combat system is much better in WOW so if you are more of a combat type then WOW is for you.Funny thing is that most of players in Runescape are teenagers and WOW players are 30 and more from what I experienced in the game, like once when we went to a dungeon in a group and we had to wait for one member because he had to lay his kids to bed =)
  5. For me (as a man) the best sport to watch is anything with nice women in it, for example Tennis or Volleyball or even better Beach Volleyball =)Apart from that I would not mind to watch a good football or hockey match, and I also like Tennis because its full of action. And sometimes I watch Formula1 although I'm not sure if it is a sport or not.
  6. I don't think that video games are a waste of time. It's just something to do when you want to relax or you are bored. Different people prefer different kinds of entertainment, some people like to read a book and imagine everything by themselves, some people want to relax passive sleeping or watching TV and some people want to take active part and they do sports. But there is something between passive and active relaxation and its video games. I think that video games are better then movies because you are the main actor in them. You can also learn much just by playing video games, for example I learned most of my English as a kid playing video games, mostly RPGs, which had lots of dialogue text and as a kid you learn really fast. And I was one of the best in English class. I think every type of game gives you something, strategic thinking, better hand-eye coordination, better logic thinking etc. But what is the best thing about video games? You can be anything in a video game, a pilot of F-16, a mighty warrior, a general, a car racer, you can move back in history, move in the future, see worlds which never existed, places you would never think possible and you can be right in the middle of all this. But nothing is black or white and so video games can be bad too. Many people with problems in real life find it easier to spend all their time inside of imaginary worlds where they are the heroes, where they have a feeling of power. Many people mostly children get addicted to video games and its not just fun for them anymore its their second life which can be for them sometimes more important than the real one. For these people video games are really a waste of time and it's real sad to see such people. So my conclusion is that video games are OK if they are not your life.p.s. never start to play mmorpgs (WoW, Guild Wars, Runescape), they are the most addictive type of video games and I know it because I had lots of friends who played them and each one of them got less or more addicted to them and wasted a lot of time on them

    Racism

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, racism is a belief or ideology that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another race or races. The Merriam-Webster's Webster's Dictionary dictionary defines racism as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race, and that it is also the prejudice based on such a belief.[2] The Macquarie Dictionary defines racism thus: the belief that human races have distinctive characteristics which determine their respective cultures, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule or dominate others.I think that the skin of color doesn't make me superior or inferior to other people with different color of skin. But what we think now is not what people thought 50 or 100 or 1000 years ago. In those times people who had the power felt themselves superior just like nowadays. And as we know from history white men colonized a large piece of our planet and often made slaves of the original inhabitants with different color of skin. The different technological level, religion and power made white man believe that they are superior to these people living often simple lives. And this remains still in our culture, although as our countries become more and more cosmopolitan we learn that religion or skin color doesn't say anything about who we are. It's a shame that there are still people who think different. I think it will take some more time till we get to a non racist society with no prejudice against people who are different in any way but I think that we made the fist step towards this goal, and that racism will slowly disappear but until then we must protect people who are targets of racism and help them become equal.
  8. I mostly (99.9%) use google when i try to find something and I use the rest only when I want to see what happened to old search engines or when they have something new
  9. I would say that Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Cameron Diaz and Naomi Watts are the best looking women for me =)
  10. My favorite TV series is LOST which I can't wait till the new season begins. I like it because of well made characters which get uncovered in their flashbacks where you learn about their lives before the plane crashed on The Island and how did it change them. I recently started to watch Heroes series, which is my second most favourite TV series. It's about humans which have some super powers like flying, tissue regeneration, mind reading, teleportation and time bending, seeing of future and others. The series tells the story of how they found out that they are special, how they feel about it, how it changed their lives and how they became Heroes. They didn't know each other but they paths will cross to stop a great evil. And btw. season 2 will start in few days in USA.And then there are the Classics like Simpson which I don't have to talk much because everyone knows them. And I shouldn't forget the futuristic Futurama which I'm a great fan of and I'm happy because they decided to create a new series, hurray. What about your favorite TV series, what are they and why do you like them?
  11. I can't say that I am really a fan of John Woo but I like Face Off with John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. This movie is a superb action movie which is mostly because of the skills of John Woo as a director. But I didn't like MI2 very much. Maybe because it was too Hollywood like. Let's see what will he bring us next.
  12. Hi I use WinAmp Modern for playing of music files and my favourite movie player is BSPlayer PRO but I also like the Media Player Classic which comes as a part of K-Lite codec pack. Recently I also began to use the Foobar2000 for music playing because it's nice and simple and doesn't use much of computer's resources, so you can have it in the background while playing some game.
  13. Hi I'm looking for a very simple Notepad extension for FF2 something like the built-in Notepad in Opera browser so if anyone knows about such extension please post here a link it will be very appreciated, thank you
  14. I used to watch the Transformers cartoon when I was small I even had Transformer toys to play with so I was happy when I heard that there will be a movie about them. Before I saw the trailer I thought first that it will be for small kids, but the trailer showed me that it will be a summer blockbuster something like Pirates of the Carribean. So I went to movies to see it and all I have to say that it was worth all the money. It was full of action, very good special effects, nice cars, nice girls, there were even lots of funny parts. It was a perfect movie for summer lots of fun and easy to watch. I hope they will make a sequel and it will be as good as the first part.
  15. I saw this movie two weeks ago and I have to say I was a little disappointed. Sure it was good and funny but it just wasn't what I expected to see. But I will never forget the part with Homer walking the pig upside down on the ceiling singing: Spiderpig, Spiderpig, does whatever a spiderpig does, can he swing from a web? No he can't, he's a pig. Look out, here comes the spiderpig.
  16. Recently I thought about the value of money in our lives and then this question came on my mind: Would you cut one of your fingers for 1 million dollars? And if not for one million dollars what would be the price you would do it for? My personal opinion on this is, that most people will say that they would not do it for any amount of money. But is this really what they would choose to do if they had the chance? I think not and I'm not entirely sure what I would do. Tell me what you think about this.
  17. I decided lately that I would like to learn JSP because I will probably need it on a project that I will have to make next semester and so I'm looking for a good book about this technology. I know that I should use Google first, but I am also posting here to see if someone can help. Also if you have a link to some web page with tutorials about JSP which you can recommend me you can post it here too. Thank youP.S. I already know Java
  18. I personally use NOD32 and never had a virus on my computer since I have it, because it has Active protection and protects me from Spyware and Viruses. When I enter the wrong site which tries to download something harmfull even when I use FF to be more safe, it just pops out with a message and I can stop the threat. It has also very fast virus scanning engine and has one of the best results in antivirus tests. I definitely recommend this software.
  19. I read The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy: A trilogy of four from Douglas Adams and it was very good, with some extremely funny parts like the whale falling from the skies trying to understand the world around it. And after reading this book, you will also know the answer to this question: What is the meaning of life, universe and everything? try to search it with google =)
  20. I love movies and it's hard to choose which movie is the best but I would say that my favorite is Forrest Gump. I'm also a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy of which the third part is visually the best movie i saw. I also like Spielberg's movies Saving Private Ryan, E.T., Minority Report, Jaws which are all classics. Another of my favourite directors is M. Night Shyamalan of whom i most like The Unbreakable, The Signs and The Village. Tim Burton's Batman, Big Fish, The Corpse Bride are also fantastic movies. And I shouldn't forget about Stanley Kubrick who made lots of good movies for example 2001: A Space odyssey and The Clockwork orange just to name some. Another great movies are The Machinist, Memento, Pan's labyrinth, American History X, Trainspotting, 21 grams, Indiana Jones, The Passion of Christ, City of God, The Ring, Sin City, 300 and lots of others =)
  21. I use two browsers Firefox and Opera. I think both of them are better than IE6, and my personal opinion is that they are also better than IE7 although I have to admit I haven't used it too much. The main strength of Firefox is the huge amount of extensions you can install into it to fulfill all your needs. The negative fact is that it uses a lot of memory and it is a little slower than Opera. I like Opera because its really fast in displaying web pages. And it also has very good user interface and unlike Firefox I could imagine running it without any extensions, which are called widgets in Opera and add more functions. The only problem with opera is that although it's the only one browser from these all who passed the Acid 2 test most of pages are made for IE family of browsers which causes that Opera can't display some pages properly. Let's wait for FF3 and see what it will bring to the world of browsers =)
  22. Hi I found out on a website that there is a hidden Flight Simulator in the most recent version of Google Earth 4.2 . You can make it active by pressing CTRL+ALT+A which will open a window where you can choose from two airplanes (F-16, SR22) and an airport from which you want to take off. After you activate the Flight Simulator for the first time it will appear in the Tools menu. You can also press CTRL+A for faster way of activating it which will activate the Flight simulator on the spot where your current view is. You can control the plane with keyboard, mouse and joystick, but i recommend mouse because its much more easier than keyboard because the controls are very sensitive. I wish you all lots of fun with this wonderful feature of Google Earth.P.S. If the combination CTRL+ALT+A doesn't start the Flight simulator check if you have the latest version installed clicking on Help and About Google Earth which is 4.2.
  23. My favorite books is the original Dune series by Frank Herbert. I love sci-fi books because they show worlds full of imagination and Dune is a true gem among sci-fi novels. Although its sci-fi, it isn't easy to read, because its full of thoughts and reflections and this is what I like about it. You won't forget this book when you are finished reading it and believe me or not you will want to read it again. It's like Lord of the Rings in sci-fi.
  24. I don't like audio books very much but all I can say is that it's true that Harlan Ellison is one of the best writers I know, my favorite story from him is I have no mouth and I must scream, which won a Hugo prize for Best short story in 1968. Ellison is very original and i definitely recommend his books to anyone who likes sci-fi stories.
