you should just buy a new PC/Laptop with windows 7 ready, as windows 7 will cost an extra 100 pounds on top of what you have. You might as well buy a whole new system as your specs are quite old/basic

I have been brought up around many sports. I enjoy playing football, basketball, badminton, table tennis and swimming. My biggest achievements are in swimming and badminton as I have once swam for my county and got to regional finals in badminton. =]

What Is The Best Processor For Gaming? Is it Intel or AMD?
katana123 replied to 2091's topic in Hardware Workshop
INTEL>AMD when it comes to gaming. I am quite a serious gamer myself and from past experiences with the 2 models, Intel comes out top. Most games today are made to be recommended with INTEL. AMD is cheaper and is used for less CPU intensive applications. Also I know many professional gamers who are sponsored by the biggest hardware brands (Intel, Microsoft etc) and they all seem to be running Intel processors as opposed to AMD. Intel FTW -
Step 1. Download your music in MP3 or WAV format. The best format to download songs in is in the MP3 format. This has the smallest file size. However there is one big problem with mp3 files - you can only link but not embed mp3 files into PowerPoint. Step 2. Insert the music in your PowerPoint presentation. From the main menu Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from file Step3 - Setting the music to play across multiple slides You do this using a feature called Custom Animation. Select your music file then Right click (not the usual left click) and select Custom Animation. You can do this by selecting Slide Show > Custom AnimationIf you want the music to be embedded in the presentation you will need to follow a couple of steps.1. Make sure your music is in WAV format (mp3 files can only be linked and not embedded)2. Increase the value in the Link sounds with file size greater than box to a value greater than the file size of the MP3 file. For example if the file size is 4.5MB then you will need to include a value higher than 4500. A good general purpose size that should incorporate most song files is 6000 as most mp3 files are less than 6MB. Be careful as some classical music tracks could be longer than this.

Forgot The Wireless Wpa/wep how to find it bacK?
katana123 replied to tklee87's topic in Computer Networks
You will need to find the IP to access your router (usually 192.168.0.1) and then go to the wireless settings section and from there you can see/reset your WPA/WEP key. EASY =D -
well i definitely prefer CSS as to 1.6 mainly because i enjoy games with better graphics. I dont play css as much now as i have moved on to other first person shooters like COD MW2, but i do enjoy a few css mixes every now and again.I do like cs 1.6 for its gameplay, i reckon it is better/harder than css and you do get less cheaters.IF you haven;t already tried CSPROMOD you should download it and try it now (FREE). Promod incorporates CSS graphics and 1.6 gameplay together, and you can edit these settings if you do not like itPersonally I still prefer CSS as I enjoy it the most.

You want to check your downstream speed. Does your downstream speed match your internet package? Say that you are currently on 20MB broadband so your downstream speed should be something close to 20000kbps. If it isn;t then that maybe the reason as to why your internet is so slow. The only way to step up this downstream speed will be to call up talktalk and tell them to sort it out. It will take a bit of arguing but in the end they will do the job. (that's what i had to do with sky)Besides that, if your router is not directly connected to your main socket, it will have a significant impact on your speed. Make sure you are using the main telephone socket in your house, and you have the filters installed in every socket which is in use around the house. You may even wanna plug your router directly into the test socket to see if it improves the speed, and if it does then you can just leave it like that. (thats what i do)

1) Ensure Printer on XP machine is shared - assume it's called SHAREDPRINTER.2) On the Network Browsing on your Windows 7 machine ensure you can "See" the Printer share. Now on the Windows 7 machine do the following (doesn't matter if it's X-86 or x-64).3) Control Panel==> add LOCAL (Yes LOCAL) printer. I know it's on a Network but hold your horses -- what we are actually doing is "Poodlefaking" the Windows 7 machine into thinking it's running the printer.4) Create NEW port==>Local port5) Portname is \\XPMACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER6) Now Windows 7 will load a driver and you'll be able to print on the XP machine.Simple(For a "Network stand alone printer") at 4) chose TCPIP portand at 5) enter the IP address. If the printer is on the Windows 7 machine and you want to print on the XP machine then do the same instructions on the XP machine --port name in this case will be \\W7MACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER

You may want to check how hot your PC is as well. If your PC is overheating it will usually turn off itself. If it is overheating then it is most likely to be caused by the processor. You will need to install a new heatsink fan on your processor and maybe try installing more fans around your case. That has happened to me in the past and after sorting out the cooling system, the PC worked perfectly fine.

I would recommend you to use the AVG free edition seeing as you have quite an old/slow system as requirements of AVG are relatively low. Best thing about AVG is the it is easy-to-use and lightweight! Most important of all, AVG have a very up-to-date virus database reducing the likelihood of you being a victim.
