On Site Forum know any good ones?

Im looking for a forum that I can host on my server! I tried Simple Machines Forum but I cant get it to work properly! When a new user wanted to join it asks for a confirmation code, with a graphic but the graphic didn't appear. I tried re-uploading it as well as replacing the graphics files and trying different prefixes.If anyone knows of another site that offers similar options please let me know!Thanks

I'm pretty sure you can turn off the image verification somewhere in the SMF administrator section. If you still have no luck you might want to try the other free forum software, phpBB.

It looks like version 3 is comming out soon which is a good improvement from the other versions, it is also highly modifiable with thousands of mods you can download and install.

Though if you are using Xisto hosting you shouldn't really have a problem because they have the GD library installed.

Have you tried searching their forums and see if their is an answer to your problem? You would get your best response there, although a few members here might be using SMF.I am assuming your using the new version of SMF if not when I installed (pre-installed script) image verification was not activated.

Yeah, I tried there forums and check for my problem. I even tried asking them on the forums but couldn't find the problem. I will try turning off the verification code.Thanks

Aequitas619, we have a section here for SimpleMachines Forum questions or you can even post them in the SimpleMachines Forum itself. They have good support and are pretty fast.For the image verification, you can locate that option by going into Admin->Registration->Settings and you will see Disable the use of the visual verification on registration. Leave it unchecked if you want it to show up.

There are tons of different forums that can be hosted on your own server. You can start with this list...but to get more I'd suggest that you just Google what you want and look around to decide what's best for you. Anyways, if you search Google for something like, "Free internet forums" then you might find yourself getting somewhere. Wikipedia has a nice article putting together all of these free forums into one category. =)
