The prototypes are quite interesting and some of them stemmed out of really cool ideas. For every Apple product we see on the shelves, there are dozens that never make it to production. Sometimes, these rare gems surface on the web for us to take a look at, and ponder what might have been. Scouring through the interweb, Iâve compiled this list of 5 Apple products that only the most hardcore of hardcore MacAddicts have ever stumbled across.Surprisingly, some of these products, over 10 years old, are still being speculated about in one form or another to this day. Will we see new products based on these old prototypes? I mean, Apple is known for its high-usability and innovative products, while these are just clumsy and not well thought out. unimatrix 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Apple sometimes have been a few years way ahead of their time. Remember DVD-RAM? Well it's back in a lot of DVD-recorder machines so that you can use them like a DVR machine. The Newton had a rabid fan base...but they were a couple years ahead of their time. I remember someone having Airport in their dorm room back in 2000 when no body knew what wireless internet was. Now it's everywhere. Apple has a habbit of being on the bleeding edge and sometimes geting bloodied over it. Just like I think they'll go to Blu-Ray and HD-DVD is going to be the Next Gen format of choice...at least until everyone has some kind of set top box to download content.
