Could it be that there is a mismatch with the VB6 that your have?

There are several versions of VB6, like VB6 Professional and VB6 Enterprise, etc.

Could it be that the msinet.ocx that you have downloaded is not the right one for the VB6 version that you have? Just an idea....

On my VB6 cd-rom, the msinet.cab is located in \Common\Tools\VB\Cabinets\

You downloaded it? Maybe try loading it from the cd or from a .cab

I got it from a program I downloaded (vb .net) so I tried to drag it into my project on VB .NET and it didn't work so try a .cab

there is actually a sp6 version. so maybe if you install that it will work. Another reason might be: You have Visual Basic and Visual C++ on your system for example, and most files are used by both programs, but with different settings. So that could be another reason why it is not working.Try and see if you can use winsock, if you can't then you have got a Enterprise version of Visual Basic and that means your resources are limited to everything but internet stuff... (i have got the same problem :P)
