Free Forums

I am looking for site where I can get a free forum. It got to be editable.I have tried to install one on my own server, but it did not work. I tried several types. No result. I have mySQL on the server.That is why I am looking for on somewhere else. Add free please.

there is a French site which does that "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;. But why not install invisionboard or phpbb? They are very easy to install, on the other hand their configuration (on the level of the interface) is not very simple.

If you want a hosted forum that is add free you can go to bbfreedom.com or to get a phpbb forum with many cool layouts to chose from, or to cyberlord.at. Cyperlord is in german but you can have the forum in english if you want. Both are costomizable and free..

I'm siging up for a bbfreedom board now, so I'll let you know how their service is. Besides ad-free and editable, are there any other features you need? (So I can keep me eyes open with regards to those features)

lol guys why not utilise your hosting and install any type of forums using Xisto hosting?Or, get posting and apply for hosting so you access you free potential forum?Often these free boards from other sites only give you a single database for one forum and other kind of restictions, here you have unlimited databases, see what i am getting at.Get hosted guys!!

heh yeah and once we get hosted *coughs since he is not.* there are three that are really good. Invision Powered Board, you can get a free trial that allows you to get so many members/posts then it shuts off. I don't suggest it though it is one of the best. Next is PHPBB, its got nothing right off the bat but there are so many hacks for it, if you have the time its a good one. Then there is YaBB I have not used this one yet, so I can't tell you about it but it is popular and it looks good.

I would recommend phpbb or invisionboard for ya! They are both very good!Im using a phpbb board! Its easy and secure..The administration panel is also very nice!The invisionboard on the other hand is more secure (is that right? Im not 100% sure) and is more complex. You have many features u can use, but I think phpbb has enough ;-) So the phpbb is pretty good in my opinion.

invisionfree is a'ight..if u want the ads and banners gone u can pay..but for free i liked it.. although i didn't experiement much with it so i don't know what it's capable of...but i know it fit my needs...but my needs were rather small lol..good luck

I did get a forum at bbfreedom.com, but it seems like the server is gone.....

phpBB is fine if you just want something really basic, but if you want something serious, get Invision Power Board.Unfortunately, they've gone completely paid except for an encoded trial and Fantastico.DON'T download the trial.I have some old fully functional trial versions of 2.0.0 PF 4 and 1.3.3 Final.If you want them, post here with your email address.PS. That's not illegal, because you can't give the public the right to use software, then take it away a few months later.Also NO to yaBB. It uses way too much resources and doesn't even use mySQL. It uses flat file.

Ok, I guess that it's time for me to go against the grain, here.I'd recommend (if you're alright with something that's not 'mainstream') that you use the SimpleMachines forum system.simplemachines.orgIt free, and although it may not be the easiest to deal with, it is easily the most powerful. Great features, everything. Very customizable.Anyways, I've seen it used on many a site and the people who use it are basically awe-struck. Try it out, if you're up for a fun time.

Simple Machines is alright, if you want a cheap PHP imatation of the slow, crap sluggish, Perl written YABB. Talk about, crap I mean it doesn't even use MySql, I mean it only uses some file, called flat file, and it's so simple, no skins, or anything, but I have to admit, that Simplemachines is better that YABB, and YABB, is better than the sofware that Proboards uses, but personnally, I think they are all garbage! I reccommed, IPB, or if you want a simple forum thats easy to use try Mybb - very good, has all the features of IPB2 - but easier to use - https://mybb.com/ and it also has very good FREE skins!
