using dual monitors without the boarders - Any suggestion with the lcd monitor?How To Connect Dual/triple Monitor + Advantages

I have a question about connecting 2 monitors up and running them as a single monitor for games and movies.  When I connect the 2 monitors up and play a game or watch a movie, it seems the boarder of the 2 monitors get in the way and make the game/ movie look like crap.  Is there anyway that I can get it so the boarders are gone or even customizing my own solid boarder for the 2 monitors as if they were just the 1?  Its a solid inch or 2inch line between the 2 monitors and wanting it to look as if there is really no line between the 2.
