Recommended Posts

SOCOM is a series of popular third-person shooter video games created by Zipper Interactive. The games focus on various teams of United States Navy SEALs completing missions with occasional help from other special operations forces from around the world such as the SAS,SBS, and GROM. Socom was first introducted in 2002. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs was the first game of the series classified as a tactical third-person shooter developed by Zipper Interactive and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The first Socom was made only for the PlayStation 2. SOCOM I was released on August 27, 2002, and is one of the earliest online titles available for the PS2. In addition to the 12 offline single player missions, SOCOM also features online play via the internet at no additional charge to the customer. SOCOM additionally uses a USB headset for its speech recoginition commands offline, and allows voice chat with teammates when playing online. It was the first game for the PS2 to use the headset. SOCOM II U.S. Navy SEALs, the sequel to SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs was also developed by Zipper Interactive in collaboration with the Naval Special Warfare Command and published by Sony Computer Entertainment on November 4, 2003. SOCOM 3 U.S. Navy SEALs is the third sequel for previous SOCOM games. The game was developed by Zipper Interactive and was released on October 11, 2005. It was later added to the list of Sony Greatest Hits games on August 4, 2006. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault was released November 7, 2006 and was the last game of the series for the PlayStation 2 gaming console. Combined Assault features an entirely new campaign, new vehicles, weapons, multiplayer maps and much more. Combined Assault's campaign mode is completely new and offers 18 missions. Rather than spanning multiple countries like past games in the series, the game takes place in a the fictional country of Adjikistan. The country is supposedly situated somewhere in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region of Central Asia and features a number of environment and climate zones, allowing for the game to feature a wide variety of landscapes and settings while working within one large, connected story. After that the next Socom was released on the PS3. It is called SOCOM Confrontation. I couldn't find much info about it but i will post more later. Between all these there were a few Socom games released for the Sony PSP. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo is the first SOCOM game for the PlayStation Portable. It is one of the Best-selling PSP games next to Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories. It has both online play (infrastructure mode) and PSP to PSP play (ad-hoc). It is very similar to the Socom games released for the Playstation 2. This game is also a follow up to SOCOM 3 U.S. Navy SEALs for the PS2. Later, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 was released as the the sequel to SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo. The game was released in North America on November 7, 2006. Fireteam Bravo 2 features an entirely new campaign, multiplayer maps, and new features such as Command Equity and Local Influence (see below). Fireteam Bravo 2's campaign mode offers 14 story missions, a variety of partners including LONESTAR, and two partners named BRONCO and WRAITH from SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Mobile Recon which was only available for cell phones, and an innumerable number of dynamically generated instant action missions. Rather than spanning multiple countries like past games in the series, the game takes place solely in the fictional country of Adjikistan. The country is supposedly situated somewhere in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region of Central Asia and features a number of environment and climate zones, allowing for the game to feature a wide variety of landscapes and settings while working within one large, connected story. This game is also involved with the PlayStation 2 game SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault. The most recent game for the PSP is SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike, which is the third hand held game in the SOCOM series. In Tactical Strike you are in command of four combatants. Unlike previous games in the series, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike and SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation is developed by Slant Six Games instead of Zipper Interactive. There official site is Slant Six Games
