You should be careful with going back to version 8 because Yahoo! recently announced that some of the features were being discontinued (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). Additionally many of the profile changes (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) apply to all versions and you may not be able to use a different picture now even in version 8.
