DC C740 uses a CCD 7 megapixel sensor, and Pentax SMC (super multi coating) lens. The camera's functions are adapted for each environment the photo is made in. There are 13 modes a photo can be made in. During the filming you can use the optic zoom, which is just at 3X for this camera. The internal memory is just 9MB, not even close to being enough to make photos at max resolution. Just like other high-tech models from Benq, the DC C740 gives the user the possibility to chose the photo type (Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority or Manual). The photos where rather noisy in the darker zones. The advanced functions of the camera, like “Shake Free” allow the creation of some images that are more than satisfying given the tough conditions.
