pyost 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 This site definitely goes into my bookmarks folder! I like the idea very much, but it's not the idea that makes this site so good, it's the way that it was created. The scoring system is realistic and looks like live people are "reviewing" your web site. I wanted to check the score for my new web site, The Brits, and I can say that I got what I expected. Marketing - 4.0 Design - 9.4 Accessibility - 8.2 Experience - 8.7 Marketing is the worst part of my web site, but that is normal, since it's less than a month old. The other three scores are satisfying, in my opinion. Moving on, I found four bad points. Three out of those four are because the site is new, whereas the fourth is quite interesting. This website appears to be in violation of the British Disability Discrimination ActBut hey, if my site contains the word "Brits", it doesn't mean I'm British, right? I guess there's nothing to worry about On the other hand, I have two good points - speed and layout. By the way, the site is hosted at Xisto, and this shows that the servers are fast. Your website responded in 0.70 seconds, and your homepage downloaded in 1.17 seconds. This is very fast and suggests your website is running on a sufficiently powerful web server. To sum up, my web site got 6.6. I can't say I like it, but it is the real state of my web site. I'll run the test once more, at the end of August, and see how good it gets till then. Great service.

Jeigh1405241495 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 This website appears to be in violation of the British Disability Discrimination Act No clue how but really don't are. Also I think the site is a bit messed up rating wise since it said mine is "extremely popular" (which its not) and my ratings were all too high hahaMarketing 6.3Design 9.8Accessibility 6.1Experience 9.5Overall Summary score for this website. 7.2I mean... design ok lol, I'll let that go, but I have NO marketing, and NO accessibility. I have done nothing on either front yet the ratings aren't too horrible. I dunno I mean completely ignoring 50% of their grading criteria should drop me lower then a 7.2 lol. Either way it IS an interesting site with alot going for it, its a nice way to have things broken down for you to realize where the strengths/weaknesses of your site lie. Worth checking out. pyost 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 Now that I've examined the service better, I can say it has some major flaws. For example, let's check Google's score. The overall score is 8.8. OK, so Google might not be the best organized web site, but let's see WHY it didn't get over nine points. To start with, i appears to be in violation of the British Disability Discrimination Act. Well, excuse me, but it seems all web site are in violation of this law! Of course, with the exception of the SiteScore site itself. Amount of text A page was found to be completely, or nearly completely devoid of text. Text may appear to the human eye, either in images or Flash animations. However Google and other search engines will be unable to find this text. But this IS Google! Of course there's nothing on the home page - that's why Google is so good - they don't have numerous ads everywhere. Another bad point is a table-based layout. Sure, web sites are better when done with the help of CSS, but there isn't much at Google that needs CSS. This search engine is supposed to be simple. After all, some people might still use browser that don't support CSS. On the other hand, let's check Yahoo!'s score. It also got 8.8, and the reasons why it isn't here are approximately the same as for Google. But I think Google would have to have a higher score than Yahoo!, don't you agree? What's more, the SiteScore tools says that Yahoo! is more popular than Google, because somehow they "calculated" that Yahoo! is the best site on the web, with Google at the third spot. I say, this tool is good for web sites with a specific subject which includes content, while not good for search engines. But for us hosted at Xisto, it should do the trick and tell us what to improve.
