XIII 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 I want to creat a simple machine forum and I'm in big trouble with uploading the file to that Cpanel , what is it and how to use it ? Please help me . Thank you very much . Cpanel is the Control Panel you use to control your website contents, permissions, contacts,......and so on, you can say all things related to your site, you can google it and you will get so much refrences about this subject, but for now, this will help you, i think in solving your problem: 1- login to your cpanel http://ww38.yoursite.com/cpanel , put your username and password. 2- once you are on it, click on File Manager. 3- click on public_html folder 4- upload a file, browse and upload all your files also you can use any ftp manager, like cuteFTP, it will be more helpfull Regards. pyost 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 I want to creat a simple machine forum and I'm in big trouble with uploading the file to that Cpanel , what is it and how to use it ? Please help me . Thank you very much . I see that you are not hosted at Xisto, and therefore I don't know what kind of cPanel you have. Where are you hosted?Anyhow, there is another option where you aren't supposed to upload anything. On the cPanel home page, try to find a link saying "Fantastico". If you do have, it will help you to install SMF or any other script package available. You just have to specify where it should be installed. I won't explain the process in more details, because it's rather simple. However, if you do not have Fantastico, you should do what XIII said, or ask for help on your host's forums. WeaponX 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 The link posted by XIII is not a valid address...it was just an example. If that was your site name it should have asked you for the cPanel login username and password. You are not hosted until you get at least 10 credits and submit your application for hosting. Posting here at Xisto will give you credits. If you don't find anything interesting to post here, it's suggested that you post over at Xisto instead...it's the sister site for Xisto. vhortex 1 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 The link posted by XIII is not a valid address...it was just an example. If that was your site name it should have asked you for the cPanel login username and password. first thing is.. he may not have a cpanel.. or if he does have one.. it can may be served in different locations.. being a webdeveloper.. i have stumble on this kind of sites and control panels.. [control panel not cPanel].. 1. http://ww38.yoursite.com/ <-- cPanel from a certain webhost 2. http://ww38.yoursite.com/ <-- cPanel from a chicago base hosting -- http://ww38.yoursite.com/cpanel/ <-- you may think that it is cPanel but this is webmin from the same hosting 3. http://ww38.yoursite.com/cpanel/ <-- most common and the way Xisto use it.. i even stumble with this.. http://ww38.yoursite.com/menu/ and http://ww38.yoursite.com/;~ the ~ tag is needed and insert yourusername inside the <> tags.. it seems that the host is using a server side script that read this tags.. ------- first is.. asked your webhosting if you have a cpanel or what kind of host administration you are using and how to connect to it.. not all hosting have a web administration.. Does it take lot of times ? Sorry for annoying but I'm new here so I really need your help . If it takes short time , good and if not , oh well . pyost 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 It depends on the lenght of the post. A one-liner won't bring you much credits, whereas a single good post can get you those ten credits. Anyhow, if the posts are really good, it usually takes 4-5 posts to gather 10 credits. However, I must warn you that you must use the QUOTE tag when copying texts from another web site, since this is a common reason why people get denied. ProtoMan 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 Thank you , pyost . I need ask one more question here , where can I see my credits ? pyost 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 On the index page of the forum (http://forums.xisto.com/index.php), below the shoutbox and the ads, there is a box where you can see your credit count.

I collected all the required credits , but then where can I post an application for hosting ? This is the most important step , right ? So please help me .I don't know much about hosting . pyost 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 Before applying, I advise you to read this topic, since it will help you understand the crediting system: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/83399-topic/?findpost=1064300025. Once you have the required amount of credits, you should fill out this form and post it in the "FREE WEB HOSTING : NEW ACCOUNT REQUEST" section. However, I think you shoul post for a few days in order to improve the quality of your posts. That way you will have more chances of getting accepted, and will be able to apply for the second hosting package, which requires 30 credits. If you find it hard to post here, due to the technical nature of the forum, you might consider switching to Xisto.com, our sister site. There, posting requirements aren't as strict as here, but you still need to be active in order to maintain your account.
