IBM 390x With Win98 battery problem...

Recommended Posts

I got an old laptop from someone, and had to load windows98 on it, as it's too slow to take anything better. I was able to find all the drivers on the internet, in particular from driverguide.com and IBM's website, but there was no driver for power management or battery. There is a battery in the laptop, but in power options it says i don't have one. how can i get the computer to accept that there's a battery there? As it is now, as soon as i pull the power cord the laptop goes off.

I'm pretty sure that battery is dead now and no longer good to use. Heh i have a 486 AST laptop and it as well has a dead battery in it. There is no point in buying a battery for it as it will cost as much as the laptops current value.
