xboxrulz1405241485 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2005 try to run the checkdisc with WINE, it may work. Also, Half-Life/Steam works on Linux, why would you want to run it on Windows?xboxrulz
qwijibow 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2005 WINE's support for DirectX is very inferior to Cedega's support for directX (currently supports directX 9b)however, my subscription to Cedega ran out, and a recent Steam update requires a cedega update, without my subscription, i nolonger have access to the FTP servers.now if we can get back to the problem, rather than asking why i want my problem sorted, LOL...i returned the boot sctor to its origonal state, made no change. Thanks for the download wutske, ive not tried it yet, but thanks anyways. If you guys knew me aswell as the guys at developerfusion, you would know its a miracle ive not filled this thread with rants, hehe.again, thanks. qwijibow 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 didnt help...so the question is this>what could cause the error message "autochk not found" when the file autochk.exe DOES exist, and it is in th corrcet place.. ???any why of why would it cause a BSOD ?where does windows set the PATH env variable ? could that have become corrupt ?my system is virusfree, auto updates turned off.no new software or devices installed.USELESSSSSS !!!!windowsXP install disk insits on neuking my MBR.. so not only do i have to re-install windows, i have to make a linux 64bit boot disk to fix the MBR afterwards.agh ! qwijibow 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 i think you are right xbox....Its just sooo frustrating not being ably to boot a rescue disk, chroot, and re-compile whatever became corrupted in windows.Everything about the indows install bugs me.Last time i installed windows, the timer said that it would be complete in 2 hours.2 hours later, i came back to the computer, to find that it had paused installation 15 minutes into it, to ask me what time it was, LOL.ALL install questions should be asked in one go, so that it doesnt need to be babysat.lol, ohh well, anuther afternoon wasted.
