Dooga1405241478 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2006 I used to use this AJAX powered one, but I seem to have forgotten what it was...If someone could find some AJAX powered and remotely hosted shoutboxes then that would be awsome!
minnieadkins 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2006 As stated on here there's all kinds of free shoutboxes available on the net. I found one called tagbox that fit my needs. It's simple and doesn't really take much to implement. It depends on what you really need. I would advise you searching through some of the links here and decide what fits your needs. If you really want practice with php/ajax or something I would definately recommend writing your own. You'll get a lot more out of it, and learn a lot more than implementing someone else's code. Arbitrary 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2006 (edited) I'm sure there are tons of sites that offer free shout boxes, and so here's a few:http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://www.yellbox.com/ - offers a swear word filter, ip address banning, remotely hosted as well, I believe http://www.shoutmix.com/v3/login.php - this one's remotely hostedhttp://www.lpassociation.com/forum/ - a shoutbox in an iframe, really easy to embedhttp://php.resourceindex.com/programs_and_scripts/chat/shoutbox/ - written in php, there's more than one on that page to choose fromhttp://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - once again remotely hostedhttp://www.oggix.com/http://www.cbox.ws/http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/flash-php/ - this one you have to host yourself, it uses a text file to store 'shouts'; uses flash and phphttp://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/chat-scripts/ - another shoutbox that you have to host yourself, allows you to ban ips, filter profanity, etc.http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/chat-scripts/ - a php shoutbox. You can decide if you want to use a Mysql database to store 'shouts' or just a plain text file.http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/chat-scripts/ - php once again. Allows bbcode as well.http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/communication-tools/ - php shoutbox; similar to the ones described before.http://www.hotscripts.com/listing/pyshoutout/ - has css support! http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/guestbooks/ - a php mysql shoutboxhttp://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - another remotely hosted shout boxhttp://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - a php tagboardIf you want more, you can always just Google https://www.google.com/search?q=free+tagboard orhttps://www.google.com/search?q=free+shoutboxOr you can go to http://www.hotscripts.com/ for more shoutboxes that you can host on your own server. FirefoxRocks 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 You should definately learn to make your OWN shoutbox. It is quite easy actually. Go to W3Schools and learn some PHP and MySQL. Then you will create a MySQL database with a table called "shoutbox". I am still working on mine and it is rolling along quite nicely.Give it a try! It may not be feature-rich, but you will learn something.

iGuest 3 Report post Posted December 26, 2009 My favoriteFree Shoutbox? HTML, Flash or PHP Codemy favorite shoutbox is http://www.chatboxpro.com/ its very easy to use, easy to customize also has pre made themes and I have never had any downtime with them. I have one on a blog and one on a website, the one on my website is a static shoutbox meaning I have set it up as a message box. I made it so people cant comment on it I just use it to put news and updates which is very handy. there are heaps out there though. -reply by Warren
