Shadow X 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 Thanks vizskywalker. Do you know though whether the 5.0.x is safe and reliable though?
vizskywalker 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 MySQL advises against using 5.0.x unless you plan to help in the developement process, adn they recommend that standard users stick to 4.1.x, which is what I do. Upgrading to 5.0.x when it goes stable should be very easy.~Viz
Shadow X 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks for the advice vizskywalker. I thing I'll stick with 4.x because I'm sure there can't be much difference in 5.x, can there?
vizskywalker 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2005 Not really, it's a couple more functions and a couple of functions made more efficient. It's definitley worth it to wait for a stable version.~Viz
jvizueta 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 mysql version used by Xisto is a stable one, but is not the most recent stable version, why is that so?used version = 4.0most stable recent version = 4.1I don't remember if 4.0 supports foreign keys, can anyone remind me of that please? vizskywalker 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Three reasons why Xisto isn't running the most recent stable build:1) we just haven't updated yet2) Some scripts written for 4.0 may not work in 4.1, which would cause people to need to rewrite their scripts3) 5.0 is about to release (soon), so why upgrade now?And I beleive 4.0 does indeed support foreign keys.~Viz
