xboxrulz1405241485 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Well, usually I won't talk about Windows, because it is truly a crappy OS, IMHO. Well, here's my problem, whenever I load any games on a freshly installed version of Windows XP, or Windows 2000 SP4, I run the game for a while, then it randomly crashes! This is the 100th time! xboxrulz1405241485 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 No error messages (that's why I hate Windows, it doesn't tell you about any error when it crashes), the crash type is hanging. These are the hypothesis:NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT has a memory problem (low, since it works properly in Linux)512 MB RAM has problems (yet low since it works perfectly in Linux)Driver problem (probably)xboxrulz
unimatrix 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Most likely cause: driver issue. What chip set is on your motherboard? Intel, VIA, or nVid? If it's VIA, I can almost garuntee you what the issue is (VIA chipset on the motherboard). IF that is the case, only one solution: get a different motherboard.
