Submit Website To Google Search How can I submit my website?

Recommended Posts

I remember, a while back, Google had a link allowing you to submit a website to its search engine. Is that possible now? I can't find it. Maybe now Google only relys on its spider.

You need to submit it to a directory, like it says on Google's FAQ: "If you would like to submit a web page to be included in future versions of the directory, you may submit the web page directly to the Open Directory by following the instructions here."

Basically they explain how much they care about their open directory project(ODP). Afterwards they explain with lots of riddles the step, but basically they summarize in the following:
STEP 1: Consider if your website is ideal for its submission.(that its legal, no pornography, etc)
STEP 2: Check that your site is not already listed(you already did)
STEP 3: Identify the single best category for your site.
STEP 4: Go to http://www.dmoz.org/ click on suggest URL and follow the instructions on the submission form carefully. Just submit it once, they can ban you from the site, blocking your submission.
STEP 5: Your submission will be reviewed, it can take weeks, have patience.

And finally after after you wait you will be submitted to AOL Search, Google, Netscape Search, Yahoo Search, and hundreds of other sites.
That's about it, just follow the steps and you will be listed as soon as possible. Good luck.

One simple google search, huh ?By the way, what is the aim of a forum ?In a forum, you ask questions. Most of the questions on a forum could be solved by a google search, but then... there would be no forum at all.

In a forum, you ask questions. Most of the questions on a forum could be solved by a google search, but then... there would be no forum at all.

Google returns a million hits to a query my friend. A forum facilitates intelligent information sharing. It relies on the insights and experiences of the contributors where as google just returns mechanically. So which would you prefer?

And anyway google can never return 100% relevant answers!

Wait, cant Google find your site without you submitting it to a database?  I thought it found whatever was out there.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

probably not. you'll site would need to be generating very much traffic, and be linked to many other sites... but that is not the case here...

So if you would like to make it instantly on google, try submiting for adsense, then you will be added to google very fast...

I have also tried the Google submitting thing, but it has been a long time and there are still no results. But I think that even if my site would've made it onto Google's site database, I would've only found it by searching for it specifically, which doesn't help much, because if you're just casually searching then it would probably be one of the last sites.

There is actually a tool in your cPanel that can submit your site to numerous search engines at once.Look on the bottom right of the "Preinstalled Scripts" section and you'll see a button labeled Search Engine Submit.Fill the form in, choosing the search engines you want to submit to (alltheweb, directhit, google, hotbot, lycos, mixcat). Hey presto! It then brings up a page with links to each results page for the indivdual engines.I was amazed when I found this tool, actually. None of my previous webhosts offered anything like it, with Xisto it's as good as paying for hosting.Anyway, I hope this helps. It may be useful to know, that even if your site is submitted to a search engine, it doesn't mean that they will index it for certain. It's a good idea to have other sites link to you, as search engines will follow the links during thier "crawl".Good luck with your site! :-)
