kevlar557 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 I'm wondering if you can get around the logging of visited websites on a school network. I have a friend who has a laptop for wardriving, and he can get into the school wi-fi, but you have to log into it. It isn't a problem for us, because we have a admin account, but it will log our web activity, eventually tracing it back to us. We don't plan on looking up porn, or shat like that, but it will show that we were logged in after school hours. Is there a way to block the logging that anyone knows of? musichere 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2005 I don't know how your one works but if you use a proxy (e.g. online or offline like anonymouse.ws) the school will just see what you've visited too as 'anonymouse.ws' rather than the pages you are viewing inside the proxy.I'm not too sure about that but I don't see why it wouldn't work becuase the system is you go to anonymouse.ws, they get the page for you and load it inside their own website so it doesn't show you as viewing external websites. Trekkie101 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2005 Let them track you, by law they cant do anything if they havent filtered it, only if you try and get past a web filter. We had a similar dispute at my school, they can block the sites you visit, but they cant block the entire net.
Rudy1405241475 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2005 HmmmYou guys are missing the point here. He said he does not want them to know that he is on after school. This is a hard one for you because if they log the MAC address of the computer you are dead. And there is also other way to find out who you are.Forget about it don’t make sense. If they have set rules about students being on line after school they don’t need to filter anything. All they have to prove is you were the one and you’re a*s is grass.
Soleq 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 Unless there is a malacious act or intent, most likely you'll get your internet privs revoked and a slap on the wrist. Basically, the question isn't "How do I avoid detection," it's "why do I want to do this?" There are easier ways to get online, especially from home. I wouldn't suggest doing this just for the sake of doing it, as it's easy for them to trace it back to you. Bear in mind though that a random MAC address isn't a smoking gun, as they need probable cause that it was you specifically to even find out what your laptop's MAC is.Quite simply, there's not easy way to disable the logging from a remote location. sm0k3ymcl3ud 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 If you go out wardriving then I'm sure you know of plenty of other places you can get free web access from, some may even be faster than your school, why bother getting yourself in trouble, besides you don't want to be tagged as a hacker do you? They only would know there was "someone" on there network after school and they would trace it back to him. -=jeroen=-
warbird1405241485 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 EDIT: No, I'm sorry. I was forgotten to mention that if he would use a proxy server they wouldn't see his IP adres, but they would see that he was logged in on the server. But since you've got admin rights you could maybe create a kind of temporary account on wich you could login after school. And then afterwards delete it.-=jeroen=-
