A domain would be http://www.domain.com/. A sub domain would be: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. Where did you see a free domain?

Almost right there, of course you have to register your domain name first (godaddy.com etc), then put a good numebr of quality posts and the apply for a free hosting account...

After you got your free hosting go to parked domains and change the setting for you domain

yeah, it says you can go in with 15 people in a group and get a bunch of stuff like a free domain, 1000 MB disk soace, 15 GB of bandwith, it's on this page on the right side.
