soleimanian 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 At their Site, for a limited time, you can register up to three domains for free, this applies to all catagories. It's pretty good, I just registered wandering.goddess, serene.designs, and angelic.anime for free. They offer DNS as well, but I think the domains can only be registered up to one year... must say I took 2 free dotworlds domain names and they work fine. Process is not difficult. Forwarding is great/simple/quick and I can change it any time. Also My friends can all see my new site (and I dont care about the other 50 million users who would want to visit my site anyway)By the way, you DONT need any plugin to use the email addresses for these domains and they are unspammable
Analyst 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Trouble is you need the "free browser plug-in" to access the fake domain names. And no commercial organisations will put thier network at risk with such plug-ins. Not really a good idea, pay a little amount for a true domain which works anywhere for anyone At their Site, for a limited time, you can register up to three domains for free, this applies to all catagories. saxsux 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 That's pretty useless. How will you get visitors get to your website? If you try and advertise it, no one will be able to visit it. I don't think all your potential visitors will go to the trouble of downloading that plugin just to visit your website.
vanitared 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Hello I cant really agree with you as a lot of my friends use these domains. we all have the plugin it is no problem at all plus we have the free emailI agree with the first post on this board (soleimanian) all the people who want to see my site know what to do and the domains are much easier to remember. You will see things like http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ who can forget that and there are loads moremaybe it is not for large multi million dollar compaies at the mo (but who knows) however, for fun and friends etc it is really coolthere is a whole new world out there to surf and I am not going to be left behind
jcguy 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Yah, I suppose it's good only for your own circle of friends and family members who may take the trouble to download the browser plugin. But if you intend to promote your website to the rest of the world, that sort of domain name simply isn't suitable. A proper .com or .net or .org domain name is more suitable. lacking_imagination 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Unspammable? I highly doubt it. Even with the best filters and tricks, spammers will find a way. Its all a matter of time... Oh, I had a host that wanted you to install "plugins" once. It turned out to be spyware. Be careful on what you download.

I asked my friend to check and he checked on three different programmes and he says there is no spyware etc at all on dotworlds, also he tells me you cannot spam theses emails even if you know the address to send which sounds weird. Sure if you want to sell to everybody on the planet you need to have your site wide open (with a .com name that everyone keeps forgeting) , but my friends and their friends (and their friends) have no trouble with this system and it is really easy to use and MUCH MUCH easier to remember
