Cheap ADSL Modem Which Compats With Fedora Core?

Recommended Posts

Basically, I really want to use my Fedora Core installation but my USB ADSL Accessrunner modem doens't compat with any version of Linux. I was just wondering if there was a cheap ADSL modem, either internal or external, which compats with Linux easily and where it can be bought cheaply in the UK.Thanks

Take a look at this site: LinuxCompatible.Org - they've got a comprehensive list of hardware compatible with the various versions/distributions of linux.

As also this site: NetComm.Com.Au - they've got a wide range of modems/routers/switches compatible with all versions of Linux (or so they claim).

Simply don't buy USB or internal modems. They might and they might not have drivers for linux. And there might be drivers fro Fedore/Rad Hat but what happends if you want to change OS? Instead go for a router that is connected to your computer with ethernet cable. You won't need any drivers on any OS. These devices are a tad more pricey but they are worth it. In addition to being compatible with all OSs they are usually of better make otherwise. Believe me... I've had more than a fair share of problems with USB/internal modems...
