Vagodeoz 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2005 I think they all have good and bad points. Mac: + Few number of viruses, great for graphic designing, audio recording, video editing... - Compatibility: Many things (especially games) not available for macs, even though that is slowly changing. Windows: + Good Compatibility, can do everything: play games, working with graphics, audio, video... - TONS of viruses, some stability issues. Linux + I haven't tried it, but I have heard it works awesome for servers. Few (or none) virus. No Hardware compatibility issues. - Quite poor compatibility. Few graphics programs, and games? Don't even think about it. I stay with Windows, becouse I can do everything on it.
MajesticTreeFrog 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2005 Linux No Hardware compatibility issues. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That isn't true. Linux usually doesn't have support for the latest or somewhat obscure hardware, because drivers haven't been made. Also, in many cases the drivers that do exist are not as complete as they should be. However, this is changing.
chaosx2x 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2005 i prefer Linux, it's more difficult of the other two operating systems mentioned but it's also more stable, there's no virus build for it ( i don't know any virus made for linux), there are lots of program for free, it isn't userfriendly as windows or mac but for me linux's charm is located in the difficulty u have to solve the problems, or the more customization option u have =) in few words...linux it's FANTASTIC (but i'm still a newbie on using it )
Trekkie101 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2005 I use Windows, I was brought up using it and it gets taught in schools and colleges and well nearly everywhere, also it currently dominates the desktop market and im not likely to make much money on fixing linux and linux only. Linux well I wouldnt bounce up and down for it, its well apparently stabler but well it kinda lacks anything that makes the common suer want to change, ive got SuSE but I still like windows better, it gives better support for most programs although that could change. For stability the stats maybe look in favor of linux but I havent had any major problems with windows, infact ive had next to none. I had it running for five days on end and it still managed and kept its speed up. Fair enough it may not be the best server but for a desktop it does pretty well for itself. I do hate Microsoft but Windows is fine for what I use it for. Ill continue to play with linux but it may be a few years before I think about seriously moving to linux for my computer and linux only.
