The Bad Side Of .....google things you never heard

Recommended Posts

That is an interesting site but you have to ask yourself is this site reliable? because you cannot believe everything that is posted on the Internet these days. Don't get me wrong there were some points of the site that I did agree with like the PageRank but there were others that I don't. But I guess everyone has that right to believe what they want to believe and say what they want to say (to a point).

(X-Wes Posted Apr 12 2005, 09:13 PM )As for Gmail not deleting E-mail messages from their servers: you seem to be under the impression that other E-mail services do delete messages. If for nothing other than to identify spam, most E-mail services keep as many E-mails as they can afford. In addition, they stay quiet about the practice, not disclosing it in any privacy policies or terms of service.

X-Wes you make a good point about email servers. I think that it is funny how many people think because they delete their email there emails are forever deleted never again to be read. I remember something about how someone got into trouble because of the emails that he "deleted" but I do not remember the details of the situation.

i have just came accross this website, and it shows all the truths and theories about google. im shocked that google have never deleted anything at all "since day one".!

this can mean when you delete anything on the gmail server it aint actually deleted. it is still saved on the google server. it also states that google actually atmitted to the savings of all documents!

also theres cookies in your browser, so if you make a search on their search engine it tracks down what you search for and saves it! is the saying and reality tv shows coming true... big brother? then it obviously means no privacy on the internet world as google grows as we speak!

I don't understand what the problem is, almost every major site uses cookies for collecting user data. If users don't like it then they have plenty of other choices, this is a free service and they don't owe anyone anything.

Hm.. I am thinking twice about using Gmail now.

Thats very interesting.

Never deleteing anything... Thats amazing. I guess the deal with the 2 gigs or whatever it is worth of space now IS too good to be true.

Ice

EDIT: ok, well after reading more posts (i am new to this, first post) i found a reasonable arguement, but i still stand by that 2 gigs is alot of space and it wouldn't surprise me if it was sort of too good to be true.

Google is like any other internet company, except they don't use spyware to track what you've been doing. Spyware is designed just to find out what you've been doing, and what ads to send you. Google just uses what you do on theier site. They are so popular that they have to floodyour computer with spyware to get you to notice them ad their ads. I don't mind a computer scanning my e-mail. It's not like some pervert or thief is sitting at a computer at the "Googleplex" reading all my e-mail, and watching my every search.

Companies pay google good money for the effectiveness of their adWords ad targeting system. This system is not only deadly accurate, but it dosn't effect your computer in anyway. Some websites put these adWords ads on their pages, and their down the right side of your google searches. This is the main reason for watching your searches. It is all about statistics and switching from keyword targeted ads to content targeted ads.

I will continue to use gmail and all the other google services offered at https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl!

I think it's absolutely fair to criticise any company or corporation. Especially one that is growing as quickly and as dangerously as Google. We are in danger of having monopolies in the computer market, and we have to balance the power. This cookies mumbo jumbo may or may not be true, to be honest it doesn't matter, all that matters is that at the end of the day Google can't stay this strong forever with it's sustained growth and we should find ways to prevent them from being too powerful. After all, the reason people used it in the first place was becuase it was an alternative to the 'Big Guns' like Microsoft and Yahoo. It is in danger of losing some fans because of it's commercialisation and becomming a PLC etc.

So whats the answer? Just like any other company googles main aim is to make money, which it does very well. In capatilism becoming a monopoly is what all companies would love to become.

That is funny. I never knew that, but it would make sence that they wouldn't ever

delete anything since why would they have to when they give out 2 gigs of space

so you know they have unlimited bw and space. Any actualy know how much

space google has or how many gmail accounts are out there? Yes their main aim

is to get money. If that wasn't it then why would they do it and spend so much

money on it?

Yes every company dreams of being huge and making tons of money etc etc.

The solution is to even out the playing field so that everyone benefits. We will always have a leader, regarless of the field and regarless of by how much. If we have a strong google, then it will stop other companies from growing, and it will stop the competition. Without a strong AMD we wouldn't have a strong Intel. Without a strong Yahoo we wouldn't have a strong Microsoft etc.

Again, how would this be accomplised? The playing field is determined by who produces the best product, as long as thats google they will continue to dominate.

I read that as well. But its hard to get a serious impression from someone who makes their webpages like that. Dont really give out the impression of knowledge when their site looks like it does. Anyway, theres another site, called http://www.google-watch-watch.org/.

And since the authors motive for making this site was because he had gotten a bad google rank, not a big bomb looking at his site...

Anyway, you shouldnt really trust google with sensitive information, but you seriosuly shouldnt trust the auther of google-watch.org.
