This Website Does it make YOUR computer slow down?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if it's just me, but when ever I have this site in my browser, and I'm doing something else, my whole computer slows down. Is it because of the ads on this page? Or does it have nothing to do with this site?

I can't say if it's just you. I don't see any slowdown while on this site and using the computer. I'm editing and have around 15 other programs open at any given time and there is no noticeable slowdown. (I'm blocking sp2 update on this computer)

I think my system configuration is very similar to yours.Actually, my computer slows down only when there is music or sound going on. Whenever my mIRC beeps while I'm on this site, it almost freezes. Similar thing happens when I play music.

Play music, I have never played music (liar) on my computer. ;)I have a couple of sites I listen to and I still have no problem. I don't play cd's and I have 3 remote desktops open to the servers so all in all I'm using a lot of resources. My problem is with M$ itself, all the unexplained errors and Explorer closing for this or Expoder closing for that... I restart the system every morning and at lunch... M$ is so stable I could die... ;) The restarts are due to issues with M$ hogging resourses on the NetWare servers... It don't like giving back resources...(I'm off topic here... )Nils

May be its the ASTA Power or ASTA Aura .. that your Machine cannot handle.. It happens because there are too many Great men at this site and your PC just cant handle it.. ;) Kidding.I dont think there is any reason for that. We do not have any heavy Flash files at the forums.. And there are no special mods. the Ads are all loaded in I-Frames so I dont think they should slow up. anyway, let us know if you find it out.-OpaQue

Oh... I rarely play music either, but just a single beep from mIRC slowed me down... Can Windows choose ASTA off too, like Linux? And I've never been told what the disadvantages are in disabling ASTA for Linux or Windows. Can someone tell me if there are any?BTW, when this page loads, firefox uses 37780 K memory, and when I'm browsing it normally, 37620 K.
