JimBeam1405241475 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 I was just very recenty granted my hosting account, but I'm having some little problems. I don't know where my site is!I can log into my using using an FTP client (CuteFTP) and upload files no problem. I can also log into my cpanel using http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ , but by no other means.I tried uploading a .html file to use as my home page, called index.htm. Now, it probably has be to named differently or what ever to be used as the index page, I am unsure... but when I try to go to my subdomain jimbeam.astahost.com I get an error saying the URL could not be found. Why can't it be found? My account was granted with that as the subdomain wasn't it? I don't know how to get this working. I've also uploaded a gif file as a test, but I have no idea which URL this is stored at? In my cpanel it says the file is there, and it is using up ~2mb of space, so obviously my account is there! But how do access it in my browser? The file is called divingboard.gif (same as my signiture), so I would expect the URL to be;http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ orhttp://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/but I seriously have no idea what the URL to my site is. Anyone else having this problem? Hopefully someone out there can help me, I would really appreciate it!Thanks in advance to anyone who has any tips,JimBeam
Solus 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Are you copying your files to '/public_html'? Only files within there are visible online, the rest are accessed by the server only (I think).

Never knew I was supposed to.A simple guide should be posted somewhere to make this all a little less complicated. Thanks for the reply, I'll give that a go now. iGuest 3 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 I and others I have told to view your site see the site perfectly. The problem must be with your connection or ISP. Just be patient.Yes you must put all your files in public_html or a lower directory to be viewed by the public (by default chmod). If your files are above public_html and in your root directory only you will have access to these files via ftp or filemanager.*Problem Resolved*
