Iv'e received $2,000 in one shot through paypay before. I charge a 50% deposit, but I build site locally, not across the net. There is plenty of business in your back yard. To get started I cold called out of the phone book to get leads. It only took a few hours to get a couple of good leads, then word of mouth took over. I saw you post in the designers topic about what to charge. That depends on what you can offer. As time goes by and you learn more you can charge more. I built my first commercial site for $450 http://aplusshuttle.com/ Today I would charge a minimum if at least $800 and would easily get it and it would only take me a day or two providing the customer provided me with all of the information I needed to construct the site. pete

pbolduc 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 to be honsest pbolduc , I would talk $450 of you to build me a site like this this is not WEBSITE DESIGN at all ! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We wouldn't talk very long. Not that the site is great, after all it was my first one. but because where I live, NM, USA I can get more for my time. The truth of the matter is I don't even like the site... never did! They did and thats what matters. It has been effectively hanging on the internet, unchanged for 5 years now. I used it as an example for the newbie trying to get established in the business. How much do they get for a site in Egypt anyways? Was there back in 1979. pete
cryptonx 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 There was no Internet by 1979 not that i KNow of there was only some types of ARPANET and the idea of Ethernet Began in the 80s So i don't know what re you talking about , unless of course you mean 1999 which makes since ( 2004 - 5 ) in 1999 making a website and hosting it in Egypt would require a fortune , The Dialup Internet services started for PUBLIC usage between late 95 and 96 I think .so in 3 years time there wasn't really much ISPs or Internet Based careers , except for a few DOMINATING companies which didn't left any space for freelancers or self employed ppl , anyways to make say a 5 pages website for a company and host it online that would have costed you 800 to 1500 $ according to the currency nowadays ... to actualy develop a website something like a portal or so , that would rise to $6000 or even more .Nowadays I could make a complete website from scratch and charge something about $100 .hope I helped that if course if you are asking for knowledge not for fun or making fun . iGuest 3 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 For $450 US were payed extremely paid well considering the basic technicallity and design you used for that site. Not that I am a designer but in my region (NZ) you would probably only pay $50 US for a site of that design and technicallity. You had an extremely good start to your web designing courier
Bobo1405241472 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 How long ago did you make that site? Because with today's abilities and such, the worst sites around look about as good as that. I hope you've improved... what do recent sites look like?
ChronicLoser 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2005 eh...as long as a site does it's job and presents it's material in an orderly fashion, it can be considered good. Anyways, I've considered designing sites for others, but i'm sorry to say i'm a bit too lazy to meet a deadline and will most likely procrastinate =P
