spacewaste1405241471 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Hi is there a way I could limit the maximum download speed for computers on my network so that my computer could get more bandwidth?
marijnnn 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 hm, not built in in windows for surebut you might want to try installing a piece of software. i'm sure there are tools that can do this, freeware tools even.a fast search gave me this:http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
lhunath 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 It's only possible if the other pcs on the network use your pc as a router / proxy / gateway. Or whatever server pc (on which you'll need to install this program). If you are connected in the same way, parallel to them to a router that gates you to the internet, then there is no way you can, unless if your router allows QoS or bandwidth managing. (You could check if it does).Otherwise, if you really want to, I suggest you go buy a hub to put in front of your pc, and a second network card to connect your pc to the internet with, and set it up as a gateway with DHCP.. marijnnn 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 nah, if he can access the other computers, he could easily install a limiting program. like "net limiter" (which is paid). but if the others know something about computers, they might shut net limiter down and surf at topspeed again. but if it's for your mom or if the users don't mind, you could do this.otherwise: routerconfiguration as stated above

Viezevis 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 Just a question about this tool? does it also allow you to limit the speed of the computer the tool is running on? Cause I'm looking for a tool to limit my upload bandwith to 1kb/sec for quite a while now...
